Each beach has their day but pretty much all beaches are good except Narrabeen - Northies - they hate long boarders and its filled with far too much surfing talent - so hard to get a wave for most ! South Narra can get pretty heavy when its bigger. I have had great waves at pretty much every beach along that stretch for 10 yrs. Nothing wrong with any of those beachies. You just need to work out what winds and swell direction favour each one and then keep a close eye on where the sand is more favourable. General rule - Manly loves anything with east in it and wind from the W or SW - can handle a southerly wind. Curly faces more south and picks up more swell - the northern end can almost handle a NE'er as well - Dee Why picks ups more swell than Manly but less than Curly. Can handle a northerly breeze at the northern end by long reef. The Roy is ob's fav spot :) Can handle a big southerly wind but does not pick up a lot of swell - so can be good when its heaving everywhere else. Further north it gets just better and better. Check out any general surf guide - loads of info in those books.
