Here's my story...

About 3-4 years ago, I was surfing uncrowded Winki (Lowers), beautiful 2-3 foot conditions... Chatting to a Canadian guy called Adrian...
We finished our surf, chatted up in the carpark... It was his first day in town, he had recently bought a car in Melbourne, and came straight down to Winki, and he knew he wanted to hang around in town for a week or two... He only had a 4/3 Canadian Wetsuit, and I had a oldish spare 3/2 that I gave him. Plus I showed him where a few other surf spots were...

He was very very grateful... His first impressions of Torquay were so good, he decided to hang around for a while... Anyway, I still see him in water, he went to Uni here, and now teaches at my son's school... He still hasn't left town!... :)

It was hard rubbish collection in our neighborhood last week. Saw a old man trying to get a mattress on his roof. He was about 80 years old and struggling. I pulled over abd asked him if he wanted a hand. Lovely old italian man. Lifted the mattress onto his roof. Tied it on for him and off he went!

That was my good deed for the week.

Stopped in the middle of a storm outside of Lorne and helped a bloke whose sump plug had fallen out and he had seized his Lexus. Took him and his dog back to our caravan in Anglesea as he had no reception and entertained him for a couple of hours while he sorted a tow truck and lift. Took him back to his car. As we were shaking hands goodbye he took a key off his key ring and handed me the key to his two story holiday home in Apollo Bay over looking the ocean and told us to stay as long as we wanted. It had rained for five days and I was about to get really really crook for two days, so that was a godsend. We stayed four days while the missus did some washing, I recovered in bed and the kids watched some TV for the first time in months.

Thanks Andrew if you see this.

i was surfing the big dune one day when this bloke i know called JB paddled out the back asking for help.
his car was bogged on the back road and he had to be at work for WIN TV.
me and a mate got out walked over the big dune and started digging him out.
we got him out,he then didn't get enough speed and bogged again, this time in a muddy water crossing.
we were that muddy you could only see our eyes."JB was clean in his work cloths" so i dived under the mud and put a rope under the car
and we got him out. scotty and i got a mention on the local news for helping him
years later i was living in Melbourne and went to fly home and met JB at the airport.
he was working for Qantas now, so he let me into the qantas lounge "lets say i smashed the RUM"
after that every time i saw him i was upgraded to business class and placed into the lounge.
i always arrived at the airport 3 hours early.

We did respite for foster a foster family . They looked after many kids over the years and always had a full house. We would take them for weekends at the beach etc. show them some good times and let them smile and laugh again. Still see them every now and again, they pop in and visit it's great.

The ones I have read here were all done for altruistic reasons. Sharing them here is sharing the love and, in a small way, hopefully encouraging more.

Some, like mine or Cobras, also show that a deed done without expectation is sometimes rewarded in a bigger way. It restores faith in humanity.

Saturday morning taking the dog for a walk, got chatting to a middle aged lady, who had a car accident at 4yo, major injuries. After the chat she headed off, 100m up the road she has a seizure and drops against the fence. I run up with the puppy, coffee and croissants for the kids in hand and look after her till she comes around.
Good wake up call for me that the "different" ones in Freo all have a story to tell, and makes me appreciate what I have... happy, healthy kids etc.

Couple of summers ago jumped of the rocks the south end of Turners Yamba way, was about head hi and not real good a bit of a right hander , paddled over into the m
iddle of the bay and noticed a boogie boarder out the back in the northern end , didn't think much of it until heard the cries for help , a young damsel in distress I thought, so paddled over to find a 65 plus year old woman on a kids bogie board no flippers caught in the rip , about 150 meters out to sea ,so calmed her down, told her to relax if we got hit by a wave hold her breath and well pop up ok there was no way she could get in so I put my leash on her leg and got her to hold onto the rail saver and towed her across toward the middle of the beach , tried to catch a couple of waves in one feathered right on top of us which separated me from the mal ,to her credit she bobbed up ok , by then we were back on the edge of the rip again but persevered and got her to shore to her friends who freaked out a bit, this is the funny bit , first thing she said was " I love this man " .Offered to buy me a beer but declined and went back out.
Later on they found me in the car park and ended up buying a coffee and I got to meet 3 nice ladies on holiday from Casino.
