I bought this little camera a month ago and paid $150, now they are closer to $80. Then I read a lot of articles that said they are rubbish and don't touch 'em.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/250990209802?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I tried it on the board today, and I reckon the reviewers are a bunch of whingers. The quality is fine unless you want to make marketing materials, then you should pay good money for top notch gear. Fine for happy snaps IMHO.

My rig has been modified to fit the board, and stays on with this velcro type stuff. Made some wedges out of plastic door stoppers and silastic to get a good angle. It took heaps of hits from the waves and never even looked like breaking free.

If I wasn't so ashamed of the board riding and the close up facial expressions I would post it here. Took an hour of footage on a 4G card. Next weekend I will point the camera away from the learner, with sore ribs and very bad surf conditions.

Next week for the video.

But this is my setup:

I was surprised that I did not need the tether. Rock solid despite some wave hits and total drownings.

Gonna put 2 more strips on the board then can point the camera in any direction.

Remember to stay as low as you can. Knees bent shoulder width apart. Standing too straight lifts your centre of gravity making it much harder to balance . Next time you 'pop up' even try like you're crouching and lean forward to build some speed.

Yeah..... I blame the conditions

Had to test the camera of course :)

Needed the workout too, only get to surf on weekends. Came back so sore. Was just telling my brother, if I ever got this sore mowing the lawn, I would never mow again. When I get sore from surfing, I think to myself, should be right by next weekend

The brain knows that Newguy but the 40 year old body learns slow. You are spot on though, when I did think about it I rode the waves right to the shore. BTW, this was at 6am, don't think I really woke up until 7am.

*Insert David Attenborough voiceover* 'The longboarder is an intrigueing species. Once the forgotten upper echelons of surfers in their day, they are now the savanah elephants of your local beach break charging down the line on 3 1/4 thick boards even groms wouldn't take on ....'
