Heading to Bali next week, really want to take my longboard was there a month ago with a shortboard and saw some sweet waves for the Mal.

Has anyone had experience with longboards on scooters over there, will it work?

And also do taxis have straps so I can chuck the board on the roof from the airport to Seminyak?

No problem carting your mal around Bali, done it for years.
All taxis at the airport will carry your stick on the roof.
They remove the sign and strap it on. Also most drivers
carry straps.I have seen longboards on scooters but my
9.4 is a little difficult to zap around.
Have a great trip
PS.straps as in rope,so you may want to BYO.

definately worthwhile taking your own softrax just in case and although it is done - would strongly advise against carrying your mal around on a scooter !!!! you will end up picking fibreglass as well as bitumen out of your body when someone cleans you up on the road.
Get onto baliwaves.com before you go and contact the site owner "slim". let him know you are coming and he can arrange accom or transport or anything surf related you will need, including where to surf each day. He is an invaluable source of information and help. (no, he doesn't charge you)
Have a great trip and make sure you get up to Medewi - it is the best mal wave I have ever surfed anywhere !! - big, long, safe lefts (did I mention long ?)

If you don't want to go to the expense of buying a set of softrax I have some in the shed that I won't need for the next month. If you live around Jandikot area drop me an e-mail and you can borrow them.

So how do you guys get around the island from your accommodation to the surf breaks, Hire a car or do you get a Taxi or hire a driver for the day? Or do you stay where you surf?

I suppose that's pretty good. You can get a Kijang for about 200-300k a day without a driver, so he'd only be charging about $10/day for his time on top of the car.

Sounds too cheap to me, I arrived back yesterday. The average going rate is between 70k-100k(rup) per hour of driving with a driver. shop around and always pays to lock in a price b4hand.
