Thats a legendary post and certainly worthy of a green from me Simondo! I saw the great man in action several times when I was last up that way.....still has his surf mat and still looks the same except for a touch of ageing. I was super excited the first time and told my mate to treat him with full respect as there was a good chance that a lot of the ideas on the board and fins he was riding came from GG. My mate thought that was pretty cool and then promptly dropped in on him!!!!! I felt ashamed.
laceys lane said... froth on the mp bells footage and what looks like a sunset wave.
bells- carving that still rates today.
sunset- late drop and speed tube riding
Agree mate! So why does Mac always tell me that you are a complete utter numb nuts, with no brain, with his head buried up his bum?! Or wasMac talking about someone else?
hows that back hand turn at the 3 min mark...a beauty!! Have not seen a lot of footage of MP going left - it always of Bells, Kirra & Burliegh it seems. Imagine what he would have done on the smaller faster boards of today........
the man has seven films right now ready to go, i see him every weekend and tell him to release them or else . He doesnt want to because it will end up on the net and everyone downloading it, which i agree with really. I told him he should play them at clubs and pubs like they did in the old days and never release the video until the hole country has been done.
Weiry, George & Bob were best mates back in the late 60's. Bob loved my Rincon T-Shirt I was wearing in this video... off camera, he repeatedly told me how he & George had been the first to ride "Indicators", the upper fast section of Rincon... Beautiful stories, in a beautiful setting!
Old Georgie Boy is so great to have a chat with too...
He loves surfing, loves fishing, and loves "film". So if you ever see him down the beach, have a quick chat... He's usually very chatty, and just gauge the situation... Once you get chatting about his old movies, and compliment him on those achievements, that helps to get his brain buzzing, conversation flowing, etc... Another great bloke, and true gentleman... Bob will mention that George has the Clay Marzo syndrome (a little bit of Asperger's)... Which explains a lot actually.
You can tell that Bob is saddened that he started to see less of George... Once Bob started a family, their paths slowly separated... But they were very tight friends early on. (but this is natural, think about you closest buddies from your early 20's... you don't see much of them any more hey!?)
