For Gold Coast based 'breezers and visitors, we are having a big weekend at Board Culture at Mermaid Beach. Members from Burleigh and Narrowneck clubs have been invited to come along, but don't let that deter you from showing up!
On Saturday 25th Feb from 9am there will be a sausage sizzle put on by Burleigh Longboard Club. This is part of the club's annual fundraiser to promote awareness of its long running Anzac Day contest. You will also be able to buy raffle tickets to win a new board or $500 in cash.
For the kids there will be snakes and crocodiles (no, not Mac) to keep them enthralled courtesy of Wild Rangers wildlife encounters.
And for the surfers, there will be heaps of bargains on new and used surfboards, bodyboards, skateboards, clothing and accessories (and that was the shameless plug part). So come along, grab a coffee or cold drink and a snag and catch up with fellow longboarders/shortboarders. And we will be live streaming some contest that is apparently on at Snapper. - Mark
Going to Byron tomorrow what time will the BBQ finish
Nice ad on coastalwatch btw
Hey Mac, enjoy Byron while some of us have to work! The BBQ will go to mid 'arvo sometime - depending on volunteers and how well our snags & bread supplies last. i can save you a shrivelled up cold one

8.30am and a beautiful sunny day here.....about time!!! This is probably the 3rd Saturday all summer when the sun has come out to play. Shame its only 1ft with the occasional bigger one.
That wife of yours Mac gets away a far bit.....no wonder you can get a few new boards a year - you treat her well!
Been watching the Quiky pro streamed thru to the TV - looks like tough conditions but they make it look a lot easier than it is I am sure. Weather still looks a bit rubbish. Hope it clears up for ya's. Good to see some sand back on the point for you local types.
I am off out for the night to a head wetting - I will do my best not to drink and type when I get home - but no promises.
Popped into Board Culture after my big day out and it was all over However,I had a surf at Rainbow then a look at the Quickie Pro then Bumped into the man Bob at Kirra Surf and chatted for a hour or so.
