Is there such a thing? Are some surfers more inclined to put more weight on one or the other foot when surfing?

Was talking with a mate toying around with this concept.

Front Foot surfers prefer boards with;
more nose rocker,
concave all the way thru,
wide point further forward
fins further forward
thicker under the chest area.

Back Foot surfers prefer boards more the opposites.

My mate believes it, I'm not so sure. I think it has more to do with where on the wave you like to surf the front foot surfer more on the shoulder, the back foot surfer more in the pocket. They will then prefer the boards that suits that style.

Any comments?

Not sure if I could be classed front foot or back foot but I do know that I turn better if I use a very wide stance when I'm reaching back to the tail with my back foot. Much wider than most other longboarders I see, more like a shortboarder would turn.

Not say'n it's the best way, just say'n it's the way I have to do it to get the turn I want. It could very well be that I'm just not quick enough or good enough to walk the plank back to the tail.

either way, it gets the job done most times.

I can tell you this for sure, the Munoz I favour is like the 1st board you described in only one respect, a real good kick in the nose. But the rest is very different with a wide and thick point rear of centre and a really tiny conc in terms of length and width.
