I haven't owned a 10 foot version, only 9.6 some years ago which I loved, but I'd say a nice large cruiser type of board, here is the mct write up about the board.

Had a 9'6 for about 4 years - awesome board in just about everything, even when I probably should not have had it out in some conditions it gave its best!

Yeah. but you hang out in here

But your right, One thing you can guarantee with the MacT is they are proven designs that work and well made if they are from Byron.

Has anyone surfed the SLX vs the poly. I have the SLX and bought it second hand several years ago and after dragging it around Bali I'm thinking of upgrading it for a new one. The 9'1" one I have is supposed to be for a smaller rider but it has become my go to board for all conditions. Will the poly be as easy to throw around on waves or does the extra weight make a big difference.

A mate has an epoxy mal, with that sort of length he does not notice the 'corkiness' as you can with shorter epoxy boards. If you PU make sure you get a handmade one from Byron..the GSI ones glassing does not seem to be as tough as the locally glassed boards. Look for the GSI logo near the tail, that is the logo of the one glassed overseas.
