Hi guys looking for a fin for a 9'4" pacer log, was wondering if anybody has used a TCSS Thomas Bexon live fast or a tcss CJ Nelson or a alk George

Maybe throw a photo up of the board.

I'd go the Bexon if it is a log.

And the CJ nelson if it is less of a log and more of an all rounder.

Have been riding the Fatboy style of fin as a single for the last 7-8 years. I love them.
You can get some controlled side slip, but they also hold really well when you are on the tip. My favourite nose riding fin and also an all rounder.
9" would be perfect. There are different manufacturers to choose from as well. Do like that Alkali fin as well. Nice.

I'm also a fan of the fatboys, FCS 2 have some nice looking options you can move around out in the water.
I have just ordered a JJ Wessells 9.75" pivot fin.

Final answer is also how you like to surf.

Alkali Thomas Bexon on my 9"3', its a great allrounder, fast down the line and a smooth turner, ok as a noserider.

On my Log I run Glide fins Hatchet, my personal favorite, Noserides unreal and still turns beautifully but forces you into larger smoother turns. Totally agree, Alkali make great fins, works of art.

Mate always try to support local that's why I ride beach beat boards, I thought the Thomas fin would be local is it not I know there cheaper find are made in Bali

TCSS is two blokes from the Central coast, They are hardly a major corporation. They have been around and supported LBing for a while some may say before it was "cool" again so don;t feel bad about buying from them. unless you are against hipsters...

Their fins are actually quite good. And i've owned a shedload of fins. They are hand made and hand finished in Bali.

I bought one like the CJ. It arrived, looked pretty but i threw it in the bag with rest and forgot about it for a few months then a small day perfect for a single came about so it put it in, rode it in knee high waves and fell in love.... Made promises to myself about it being the one and never needing to change fins again. it was that good..

Waves got to chest high a few days later... And out i go, First wave take off turn and The ****er started humming....

We broke up that afternoon...

She has had some work done and we are seeing each other again but it's just not the same..


Still good fins.. Took me 5 minutes to fix..

Yeah right, for some reason I thought they were a bigger corp... haven't seen one in the flesh though so i cant really comment but can speak very favorably for the Alkali and Glide fins...

I'd be keen to try one of those cut-away designs. Rachal Tilley, 2015 World LB Champ surfs the Wingnut model by Rainbow fins in Cali, but i'm trying to buy now based on necessity and my existing fins 4 fins really cover all my boards and bases...

Having said they are good fins not sure I'd drop $160 odd on one...

And agree. The alkali fins are great.

Yeah I wouldn't spend that on them either I could get the Thomas fin for $120 or the alk for $140 just wasnt sure which way to go

I'd go the Alkali then.

They are very well made and after the humming fin incident I'd be leaning towards the Alkali.

I think its because TCSS are on Surfsitch, I just assumed.

Chrispy, I hear what your saying but I'm trying to buy less quantity but better quality and really thinking through the "why", Its way too easy to fill your quiver with crap you don't use.

Just had my second surf with a SaltyMerchants Dork 3 in my 9'8"black apache log
and very pleased with the outcome. A fin that combines good turning and then with stability when up on the nose.
