I'm hoping for some Head High+ Oahu South Shore - end of the month. It clear out the holiday makers a bit, and leave the waves for the Hawaiians and others (me) who can surf a little!

Looks tricky out there now. Wind has picked up. Still looks like fun, and critical at the same time!

So did a few of them - Fanning, JJF, JK and Slater.......Fanning and Parko face off in their next heat.

I am a hoping Slater continues to dominate....anyone who sacrifices a comp to surf Cloudbreak when its huge deserves to win

Hahahahahaha....

Kelly, meanwhile, well? this afternoon he was Kelly. You know ? without me having to tell you ? that he was involved in the biggest, most dramatic, most jaw-droppingly awesome heat of today. It?s getting close to finals, and that?s when these things happen. Drawn against Seabass and Jeremy, Kelly put on a masterclass of the kind usually reserved for finals day. The waves did much of the work for him ? his heat pulsed like nobody?s business ? but again he had to put himself in the right spot to be on them. His 9.3 was great, his 10 undeniable. He was in his element and the one he didn?t make was even better. Seabass had priority for it, and with a stacked set building beyond The Ledge he suddenly had a voice in his ear. ?I?ll give you $1000 for this wave! Are you going??? Seabass later recounted the fateful exchange, ?I looked around and thought, ****, I guess I am!? I think you know what happens from here. ?My wave was ****,? recounted Seabass, ?and I turned around and the next one is just retarded good and Kelly?s in it. And then it lands square on my head.? People would ? and have ? paid a thousand dollars for a wave like that out here, and if Kelly had come out it was a 15 out of 10. Kelly later joked with Seabass about the exchange. ?You could have had the thousand bucks and the wave of the day!? For some reason Seabass laughed. He redeemed himself in the dying light of the afternoon against Taj Burrow, and for the second time this event the Kauaian scored an unlikely buzzer beater and he goes into the quarter-finals with more than an outside chance of doing something memorable. He?s having too much fun here not to do well.

I am hoping the swell tapers off to 3-4ft as i am off there on 23rd June for 7 days. I have the family in tow, so am hoping for a realistic 1-2 days of quality surfing. Any more days than that and I am dreaming, or devorced!

CJ gets a set wave and 2 pits and gets a 3.67!! Ok he wasn't completely covered up on either tube but a 3.67 is very very harsh I reckon.

Sorry, the off topic link was South Swells... South Swells hit Fiji, and an occasional South Swell hits Hawaii.

Awesome comp though. Luke Egan was partially significantly responsible to getting events into PRIME locations. Hats off to Luke.

I was going to say I put the mockers on Parko but just watched his qtrs and the waves didn't seem as favourable as many of the other finals....
