ah why?
I know its a pop out but you cant ignore the price and how good it looks.
Would pay at least double for Aus made. I would pay if could afford, but I can't,...have a family to support and the only way I can get a new longboard is to go 2nd hand or get something like this puppy.

Looks alright. You would want to check one out first. There's no doubt there's some rubbish out there though.

Why not have a crack at making one ? Great learning experience, lots of fun and costs you about half that again.

Mate you have almost inspired me to do just that! It's only a lack of time that's stopping me. I have made some boards with my bro when we were younger....I think we made 4or 5....it's a fun thing to do. Making a longboard would be a bit harder than a shorty I'm guessing??? Have you made a longboard yet?

Go for it. The first board I made was a longboard....figured there was a lot more room for error. Yes there is more potential for errors but no where near as crucial I reckon. Here she is.....I made templates up off 3 boards that liked bits of - nose, tail and outline.

Don't do it....no matter what reason you have,I will have a better one on why not to.

I have seen a few now. I have only seen one where : thought the shape was ok,very generic in shape, very much like a mctavish

We have a new bloke at my local who bought one,and now after 6 week's I'm sure he has sledgehammer feet,or it is just ****.

I would be looking for a nice shape second hand. Sure it might be a bit beat up,but in a few weeks so will your ecs,yet it will not have half as decent shape to it.
Or I'm selling a well priced board that you might be interested in.

Nah I'm joking. Go the second hand route or save ya pennies

Am I correct in assuming that the ECS boards are made in Asia, at that price?

Hard to go too badly wrong at that price!
But you can't be certain what rocker your are getting, and what weight the board is... Glassed too heavy? Or even too light?
With a hand shaped board, you have more chance of leaving more "harder outer foam" on the blank, to assist in combatting deck imprints... etc...

Here's value! This should go fairly cheaply. Worth bidding towards $450... $300 start.

Thanks Good vibes......three made, 1 is fully finished and 2 more are very very very close.....number 4 blank has been ordered and 5 was almost confirmed today. #5 is a gift for a mates wife - can not wait to get going on that one. Its a 6'9" single fin with a slight vee with a pretty full nose. Fun board. Very similar to this one.

A good mate is a graphic designer so we whipped up something over a few beers one night. I get them printed on rice paper at a place on the goldie as my printer doesn't seem to like the rice paper sadly

My mate has a ECS Bulldog shorty and its a cracker...only problem is they only do them in a 4 x 4 x 4 glass job and its got pressure dings everywhere but for less than $450 delivered he seems happy enough...its lasted him more than 18 months as a daily ride so far...I had a go and would give it 8/10 for shape and 3/10 for glassweight

Tux, 3/10 for glass weight. Was is glassed too light or too heavy, for 4-4-4...?

To light bro after 18 months you can feel where its been gripped around the rails by his fingers...standard glass job is 6 x 4 x 6 which should standup pretty well...4 x 4 x 4 is for team boards or the guy who wants to update every year

The logo's are easy mate. Just get the rice paper and use a small amount of spray glue to stick it to a piece of A4.

Print and then peel off the A4, cut out and bingo. Any digital printer is ok. Saying that though, colours will fade a little quicker with home quality inks. With black logos not too bad, colours like yellow and red etc are a little problematic.

Been told you can procure "acid-free" paper that handles most ink types - shapers use that type paper

After much procrastination I decided I needed a longboard on my racks so a fortnight ago I bought an ECS 9'6.

I was looking at a Carabine triple stringer with a glassed fin, old skool, pinched rails etc which is a thing of beauty but with a new 8'0 'kong' being shaped presently, the budget just didn't allow it to happen.

So. $595 delivered. Yep, that'll do and after having a 6'4 Sanctum twin keel for 6 months now with nothing but great reports, why the hell not take another risk.

Purchased at 4pm Thurs. Delivered to my door in Cronulla 11am Friday.

The board was located on the Central Coast. Bruce McKee runs the shaping in Asia and I have to say, I'm bloody impressed all round. Quality, finish, aesthetics, detail, shape...all as good as most I've owned.

The rocker was a touch more than anticipated however I've thrustered it up and it rips. Picks up ripples as would any log and is IMHO a quality allrounder.

I made this video today from this morning's little session at Cronulla Point. Beautiful place, fun little waves and amazing sunrise.

Looked like they were having a blast. Cracker of a sunrise up here as well....should be even better tom with all the back burning thats been going on today.
