Even while enjoying Supanimal's South Coast photos and remembering surfs gone by they do remind me of a very ordinary servo hot dog I ate in desperation on a South Coast trip.( I can almost taste and gag on it again just thinking about it). Anybody else have 'trip difining' meals?

On a North Coast trip we won a meat tray at the Bruns Heads bowlo went back to BBQ it and keep drinking. One 'participant' got very excited when the flagon came out shouting ' this is like the old days' snatching it and skulling the first few mouthfuls. It was peanut oil for the BBQ and the bloke had to ride a bike from Mullum back to Sydney the next day. Quite a few stop s apparently.

Brilliant topic!

Hawaiian Pizza always sort of reminds me of Torquay. A couple of quiet ales in Torquay, was my 1st time on VB I think, and I was happy as a pig in sh!t once we shared a pizza to wash the beer down... rather than a beer to wash down the pizza!

That Pizza shop closed ages ago... Was a cafe for a while... and now it is a Pizza Shop again! Full circle.

(edit - my story wasn't about a dud feed... actually a good feed!)

That pizza was served in that old style Circle Paper Mache Pizza Holder... Brownie had a method too... No grabbing the biggest bit... Eat clockwise, rock paper scissors for who goes first, and first slice position is selected with the lid on!! Childish games!

I had a Chinese in Northern England. I was double ending for 2 days. Lost about 4 kg in a single meal.

Still can't eat it. I went to China last year and could not eat, even though an English Chinese is nothing lke real Chinese.

1975 ..First car MORRIS 1000 , first road trip Black rock(OZ Pipe)/caves Beach.. schoolboys with little money and that was committed to recreation and petrol.
Budget meals.. RICE-A-RISO!!. the packets say different flavours but cooked by drunken youths in a billy they all taste the same... even the next day in the surf on the way back up.

Heading down south from Perth back in uni days a friend used to rave about the steaks he was getting at "A Lump of Rump" in Bunbury.

Joined him one day at what was a very dodgy looking place.

I ordered the small steak and it filled a whole plate with the toughest gristle and fat ridden peice of beef (I think it was beef) I have ever encountered.

Mate went the large steak and it filled an even bigger plate and looked just the same.

Was my first and last visit but mate kept going until it closed or as I suspect was closed by the health inspecters

A mates girlfriend invited me and my girlfriend around for dinner one night when we where about 19 or 20 yo

Roast chicken , mmmm , ate some veggies first ....mmmmm good .

Then chicken onto the fork , ........ Pink , under cooked ,.... Everybody else was eating it !
Maybe I'm just picky ? But couldn't eat it .

Sort of pretended to eat it by cutting it up ,pushing it around , eating some veggies .
Tearing the pink chicken meat up with the knife and fork and hiding bits under veggies etc .

On reflection , should have just said , " sorry too under done for me " and that would have been that .

What made my plan even worse was that couldn't eat all the veggies , even though they were good . Because needed them to hide the chicken under !
