So Ive driven 2km down along the beach at Crowdy Head, two guys out and its 3' and offshore, peeling perfection so I paddle out and get a couple.

Then there is a lull in the sets and coming toward me parallel with the beach is a pod of about a dozen dolphins some with babies, and they swim all around me less than a boards length away before they continued on their way. I think well thats really cool.

So I put my attention back to the waves and pick a nice set wave to catch, pull the board around moving from the sitting position to prone and am paddling with my head still turned to the wave. I feel it start to pick me up and move my head back to look down the wave and there right in front of me is a dolphin just breaching out of the water and pinching my wave.

I sat up and back and pulled off the wave. Guy paddling out was pissing himself laughing.

There are just some days where it really confirms why we surf, I've been on a buzz ever since.

Cool story from your day Stuk dolphins are so beautiful I remember years ago spearfishing off Forster in crystal clear water and coming up from a dive a dolphin swimming up to about 5 metres away and sitting in mid water just looking for a sec or 2 the image is burnt into my brain it must be nice to jump in 4wd and head down the beach looking for uncrowded waves
Cheers Boof

Magic experience Stuk . Bet that makes the shoulder feel better .

Just been down the beach here huge drag marks on the beach where a seal has been overnight . Talking to one of the locals about them and saddened to hear the local fishermen 20 -30 years ago would shoot them on sight to protect their catch .

The water is really clear blue down Forster, I think its the sand being very white in colour. There is plenty of uncrowded beach breaks if you go looking. When I got to the beach there was one bank just down from the surf club with about 8 surfers on it, so I just kept on going till I found one not so crowded, I was richly rewarded in more ways than one.
