Got home early last night and turned on the box to catch this little story....

Channel 9's Hotseat was on and a guy by the name of TIM FISH (might have been Jim) just got up and was telling his story etc. when I heard Eddie say he was a surfer and had a story... Jeez Eddie takes the spotlight
Tim was surfing north of Coffs Harbour with some mates and saw some splashing in the water so they paddled over to see what was the go and a ring of Dolphins stopped them from getting too close to the commotion, so they thought bugger it and moved away. After a short while surfing they took another quick look and this time they got to see a small dolphin maybe 1'6 in length caught up in a fishing net Tim got off his board and swam over , picked up the baby dolphin and put it on his board where all the guys untangled the little one then let it go.
Tim reckoned they had dolphins swimming around them for the next hour or so or until the guys went in. Dolphin Spirit he called it.
That would have been pretty special

Any of you guys heard of or have a story similar

Didn't see that one on the news but sounds like a great story.

I love surfing with Dolphins, done it a few times down at Tallows. It is a real buzz and it feels like they are sharing their waves with me and they are just as stoked as I am.

I surfed with about 80 odd down south (lefties -noisies) about a year before a shark attack at the same break (Brad Smith) Ive never seen that many before, they were everywhere. And up north we were surfing a beachie and had just come in standing in the shallows when two baby dolphins swam straight up to us in knee deep water then swam straight back out with mum following close behind, they were tiny not even a meter long.

Yep - the Mrs and my daughter and myself surfed with about a dozen dolphins at a remote break down near Denmark WA with no one else out. They spent about 40min with us 'buzzing' us and doing 'airs' etc. It was one of those lifetime moments and a lifetime memory...
