I fell off my scooter on the way back from Ulu with 3 days to go and that kept me outta the water shagged that chick on the first night I was there oh and the second night as well.
Waves were average at best even Kuta Reef didnt do its thing while I was there.

Last years trip was much more exciting

Mostly the Espresso bar, its across the road from the Bounty. They normally have a band out the front. Hehe, I got up and sang a Pearljam song and a RHCP song as well bloody funny night.
Going out in Bali at night sucks a bit when you are by yourself. My mate just wasnt interested in going out!!

Do you mean the Bounty hotel or the Bar? Only been to Bali once and that place was awesome for a younger single version of me. No shortage of misbehaviour there. Club Sandwiches FGD's (F***ing Good Drink) and all the usual activities. I went to Paddy's most nights, was a dodgy walk down poppies lane each night (I think thats what it was called?)

I know how it feels when you take a mate who is a wet blanket, can really put a dampener on the trip, Bali should be loose, long nights followed by epic hungover surfing til you cant take it anymore. Speaking of long loose nights anyone ever been to Midnight Oil bar in Kuta? Never could remember how to get to it after the first and only time I went there

Hello champ

Its true the more I drink the better I dance, until you see the photos the next day
I was always up for a massive night, however a massive night for me now days is a couple a rumbos and watching the footy.

Doggie,I have a Balinese friend who plays the sax and is treated like a rockstar, some of my best nights out have been on the back of his bike going from gig to gig and before you know it your receiving rockstar treatment. After a few nights you cant walk down the street without bumped into someone you met,all locals and funny guy's.

Hey doggie - to give you an idea of how long ago I was in bali - peanuts was the only night club and the heaviest action going down was arak and magic mushies and the place was full of melbourne nurses/qantas staff/wa surfers and javo prostitutes.

Man, the steps at Ulu would not have been built then!! Thats ages ago!! Thats when Bali would have been awesome!
My first trip was 4 months after the Sari Club bombings, I think we were the only Australians there at that time, sad time for Bali but there were a lack of crowds and the waves pumped the whole time we were there and Kuta and Legian had good banks

My first trip was 12 years ago, I think I've done eight tours. The place has changed all right, always construction going on.

Doggie have you surfed Serangon,if what did you think Its a nice place to chill out and escape the Kuta crowds.

When I used to go in the old days to party I stayed at a place called the ocean blue club (anyone remember it). It was $999 for 10 days with all meals and tours included - including free arak attack nights It was a great little hotel/resort with a lovely pool tucked in behind the intersection of Jalan Melasti/Legian. Up until about 1990 I was going to Bali 1 or 2 times a year for about ten years - jeez I dont know if I ever wanna go back and see it now. It was pretty much all ozzies and the occasional german back then and that was it.
Who brought this bloody topic up - jeeeeeez I feel old thinking about this.

Well its changed BB, the hotel we stayed in for three years running is over run by Russian travellers and not many Aussies stay there as the prices have maxed us out.
For the same price we can stay in a 40 odd square villa with private pool and have breakfast cooked in our villa.

I feel sorry for the beach sellers who did well out of the Aussies, you see the euro's dont buy from them and most have moved back to their villages or gone back to Java.

Its a shame its gone that way hey. Fortunately I have discovered another magical part of the world close to home that I have been haunting for a couple of years now and its possibly like bali was 50yrs ago. Doesn't have anywhere near as good surf but everything else is way way better so it will be my o/s escape for a few years yet.
