i got a lend of a murry burton 7' mid length glassed by the the takayama crew -a deep purple tint.

recap the past- if there was one thing i disliked more than a long board and their riders was a guy on a mid length board- couldn't even get riding a big board right. how times change

well this board has me frothing after 2 afternoons surfing it with my last wave today having me carving of the top and bottom and put in 3 serious full face rebound cutties( one thing you do get from riding 666's is how to do a cutback)

great paddler and gets waves very well yet i can whip it around to get waves and take off on the tight ones.

you can pump it or nose trim. does everything

mild rocker with a touch more on the nose. modern bottom shape standard single to double etc.

2 plus1 7"- dolphin centre and gl sidies. has a little bit of weight which i think is a good thing at this size

beautiful board-will try to get some photos.

ideal step down board for me and has me amped to get into the shorties again

probably get this one, but never fear- i will not be going to the short board room

to many doggies and legions in there for my liking

Personally I have never really understood them but in recent times I must admit I am more than curious. Far too curious for my own liking But the thing about them that strikes me is that if you lived on a point break they would be heaven - great for the crowds, great for the arvo chop, great for the light onshore day, great when you are tired etc If you mainly surf beachies and wedge like reefs they are almost no good to me - stuff getting caught inside on a reasonably sized day and not being able to duck dive your way out of trouble. But I am heading away later in the year to where all of this does not matter and maybe just maybe I will also be visiting a place for a period of time that is renown for its point breaks. So yes I am all ears (or in this instance eyes) LL - go get some pics

One thing you get from a 666 is how good a LB, mid LB or SB feel after you've been riding them

Well I spent a good 40 min on the phone to a certain Mr Goddard today, and his recommendation to me was forget about short, mid's the way to go.

He said there was a time where he would never have let those words come out of his mouth but there's a difference between what most refer to as a mini mal & a well designed mid length. Shaped right they can be the most versatile board in the quiver.

Anyway food for thought, and I'll sleep on it before making any decisions.

Looking forward to seeing some pics Lacey.

Mr Goddard speaks the truth.
Remember the 90's?
A 20" wide shortboard....blasphemy! You'll never be able to turn it!

When many of the longboarders are pulling back because they can't make the drops on sucky waves thats when you get in earlier than the shortboarders, stick the drops and motor on down the line.
Good times.
