New carbon fibre board arrived today . Left NSW fine - arrived here 3 days latter with huge delamination .

Cursed myself - never had an issue and was speaking to a bloke the night before who had a board turn up after having forklift prongs driven through it . Yep courier take no blame , ****ed myself a bit by not taking a pic on unwrapping so no proof when happened , didn't take out insurance

Bloody couriers - bugger !
That's a funky looking fish and needs to be brought back to surf.
Its a weird delam bubble shape that never seen that .
Can be fixed but when the board isn't in front of you to see weather to make cuts on edge of bubble or drill holes to inject resin to stick it back down? Or just cut off delam and get another piece of carbon to glass over.

Regular courier not board specific courier?
Is it a new board or a new to you board? (See further point down the page) If it's a new board may I suggest having Dave put in a vent on any future carbon board for you.
Are the delams around the fin plugs and nose or somewhere else as not sure from the pics?
I'm assuming it doesn't have a deck vent, valve whether goretex or screw in?
Asking because the black carbon fibre boards I have had from Dick Van Straalen always have one of these vent systems in the deck.
Adds an essential layer of security to the black carbon fibre construction I reckon.
Both my Sunova's which are Basla over eps have a vent in the deck.

Yep mate regular courier - no board specific couriers run to Tassie .

Delam is on bottom mid board - used board - was originally Dave's personal board - have seen pics of the board prepackaged definitely no elimination there then . Bit of an indentation beside the logo so I assume somebody has dropped it and or left it laying in the sun black side up .might be a good opportunity to place a vent in it while fixing this mess

Thinking will have to cut it out had a go with some weights to push it flat and it's nowhere near going back down . Previously have tried that method - drill and inject ended up pretty lumpy finish - maybe just too much resin injected
Plan atm is to cut it out ( dremmel ) then replace with fibreglass ( don't have any carbon fibre ) and epoxy After dealing with whatever is under the delam . Will lose the logo but not the end of the world .

I'd be hestitant to cut out the carbon fibre since its more than likely a stringerless eps blank underneath and the use of a sheet of fibreglass will likely interfere with both its flex pattern and overall strength.
Curious if there's a dent underneath that caused it to delam in the first place. Like you get on the decks of boards and the delam occurs above an impact dent.
If there is need to address the dent then it should adhere smoothly again.
Couldn't see the delam until you mentioned the Parkes logo and now see it clear as day. Duh!
Have you quizzed Dave about how to best fix it yet?

Good point restrength - just checked out the shapers site and can buy carbon fibre by the meter so no issue getting hold of some . Never worked with it - assume it's the same as normal fibreglass ?
But Yep mate very tempted to just drill a couple of holes throw in some resin and throw a few sandbags on top , be nice if it works , worst case if it ends up a lumpy mess could still cut and sand it back and start again .
Haven't quizzed Dave but have an old neighbour that can fix anything and built fibreglass boats for years - planning on asking his opinion on the weekend .

current plan - am sitting this board on the rack till I get my head around it - have ordered another quad fish to surf in the meantime . Next one will be shipped in a padded board bag with insurance taken out .

Worth a phone call to Parks and get more detail on construction. If its sandwich, although probably not the way the carbon has bubbled.
Ask the weight of carbon and weave, they might sell you some.
Carbon takes a little to get used to but no problem.
You can always wet it out on table with plastic on.

Update on the delam - contacted Dave Parkes -couldn't have been more helpful - even supplying me a replacement logo free of charge

spoke to my old neighbour - his opinion drill a 3 mm hole then suck out the air underneath do you know what you are dealing with . did the - gave me an answer but not a good one - fair heat shrinkage - so guess I will be cutting and reshaping ferck it

Yep thinking it was left out on the tarmac in the midday sun , black bottom side up , came wrapped in bubble wrap so would have cooked .

Picture from that angle doesn't show it the best but fair amount of shrinkage there in the EPS , going to have to fill in the hole . Checked out some on line stuff last night don't mind the Andrew W technique - see how we go
