Ok it coming up to the cooler months so I'm just thinking about whether I need to go down the path of a wetie or not.

Up here on the Goldy it's not so much the water temp but the wind chill factor.

Prior to my back injury I used to go through most winters without a suit, but now I'm finding the chill on my back tends to stiffen me up & makes it uncomfortable.

So my questions are, what are others using?

I'm tossing up between a jacket style or a spring suit in L/S or S/S??

Leaning towards a jacket just so I'm looking less like a lost walrus.

How about a good short john with or without a long or short sleeve rashy underneath?

Hey Vanders, how are you?

I have been thru a Goldy winter without a wettie before but prefer not to now given my slightly "experienced" position. Also, if you head down to Byron at all it seems to be always colder there.

I had used a short john before as with my stuffed shoulders I liked the freedom it gave while paddling.

I have bought a 2mm springsuit last year. It was the same price and with the technology in materiels now it doesn't restrict paddling at all. I would recommend you spend the dollars and get a good one as there really is a big difference in materials they make them out of. I got a Rip Curl Ebomb. Goodtime have always been the cheapest for wetties as they carry last years stock. Mine cost around $200.

I have always found the jacket styles to ride up all the time under the armpits. They are OK when you have that V body shape but some of us are the reverse of that

You could always wear a pair of boardies over a Spring Suit

See you in the water mate.

I cant go past my 2mm long sleeve jacket, its getting on and needs to be replaced.
But its great for spring when theres a little nip in the air and even on a warmer winter day it does the job.I has a short sleeve steamer which I wear on those real cool days but find it restrictive if I've had pizza the night before.

You don't need anything over 2mm,whichever way you go and look out for those deals.

Daneli I hear ya about the reverse V.

I previously had a good O'Neil L/S Spring & it gave almost no resistance when paddling so you do get what you pay for.

Thinking I may wear my mankini over the top of my wettie instead of under it.

Hey Vanders, Picked up a Billabong sealed steamer for the Winter in Perth (you won't need a steamer over there) from the factory outlet in Goldie. Awesome prices for great suits but as Mac says, last years stock
