So the camera is not waterproof itself, it needs to go in the housing? or is the housing just extra protection?

How exactly does the camera mount to a surfboard?

What depth is the camera rated to?

The camera is waterproof to 1 metre and with the housing is waterproof to 60 metres

If you look at the star base that goes onto the board and then the actual mount clamps onto the base, the camera is mounted sideways. The lens can ge rotated so the camera can be mounted in any way.(vertical, sideways, upside down.)

ok my take on the contour camera. really really easy to use with the slide button(on off) picture is super clear. when mounted in the water(camera to the board).it is heaps easy,even with wet sultana fingers,to move the mount around. can be moved anywhere. point at something and it si captured on video.

things you should know from my lack off skills.
when mounting the camera to the board,make sure you turn the lens before you do anything,otherwise the picture will come out sideways,as the camera gets mounted side on

main point...make sure you remember the on off position,as you could end up with
3000 pics of your boardshorts as you drive to greeny

also,muck around with mounting angles before you go,is a bit time consuming...but way better than missing pics off you surfing well for a change
