Thanks guys, I think this 8 footer is working out really well. It's a bit of a lump at 3.5" thick! but it does fine down a lot at the rails so I don't even notice other than the extra paddle power. (and when duckdiving!)
Andy, I'm shifting to Eaglehawk Neck, seems like there's plenty of surf options within reach of there.... Not for a few months yet but I'll give a heads up when I'm there for sure.
Onefin, I looked up the Gato Acid, what an awesome looking board!
As long as we're talking quivers..... Three is the magic number I think. Mine are all pretty similar, very much a refinement of a theme that's been going on for me for quite a while. Each board I just tweak the rocker a little, change the bottom shape a tad, fine out or fatten up the rails a bit etc etc.
Next for me will be a better one board travel board. I took the 7'2'er (below) travelling last year for three months, Everything from double overhead reefs to mushy beaches. It was great for whenever there was size and punch but really lacking when things got small and weak, which always seems to be pretty often wherever you are I reckon. Next time I'll compromise the upper end for a bit more zip when it's gutless. (...and probably get absolutely creamed as a result.)
Here's my three, they all live in different places so no photo all together I'm afraid, this shows the shapes better anyhow. They're all variations on the convex hull to triplane with concaves theme.
