Anybody out there had any experience with Chillhouse in Bali?

I'm a beginner surfer so was looking at a package that gave me access to lessons, and my wife yoga/massage. Would have 18 month and 4 year old nippers with us.

Thanks

Welcome to the breeze, Porno-Mom !!

Hang on, I have some form of dyslexia !! Morno-Pom. Ah, am I right to assume that you are a Pom living on the Morno / Mornington Peninsula!?

You might have noticed that we can get off track quickly on here!

Had a quick look at the link. That's a great location for a beginner.

Plus it gets you away from the hustle of Kuta... Out at Canggu you can chill out, and find a variety of good waves around there, without the mass crowds of the big name point breaks... Softer, less critical waves through there too.

Enjoy!

True Mac...
I know a boat called the Carpe Vita that cruises The Maldives and drops you off at some awesome point breaks...

Here's the boat over my right shoulder...

I havn't stayed there, but I checked out the site & package prices. I think they're very expensive considering what they're offering & their location.

With such young children it would be much easier staying right on the beach & organizing surf lessons separately which isn't a problem up along that stretch of coast. You'll probably only need a couple of lessons for pointers & then it will just be a matter of practice.

I'd recommend the hotel below for $75 a night, right on the beach. Take that other places phone number for your own comfort in case you feel your having trouble finding a surf coach. But all you'll need to do is go for a walk along the beach & look for a bunch of boards standing in a rack & walk up to it & start haggling.

Tell them you want a couple of lessons & a few hours each day. 50,000 RP ($5au) per hour should be heaps for the board rental. I don't know about surf coaching, but I'd talk to a few people, even guys working in the hotel are more than likely to have a friend they can call for you.

But yeah you can get your missus to take pics/vids & you'll be a lot free'er to come & go at your convenience, rather than pre planned ventures down to the beach with that other joint.

Just make sure you don't leave anything unguarded on the beach. But if your already staying on the beach you shouldn't need to...hava good one

I'm with Mick, this place is not in walking distance to the beach, night life would consist of the Dues Temple which is good but you wouldn't go there every night. There's not a lot of places to eat up that way neither,30 mins in a car from Semminyak so stay there or Legion.

Canggu is not a place to learn imo,I've never seen it under three foot and the crowd can get very agro, the left is over reef and the right is the place to surf but full on crowded.
I think your kids would go nuts after a day or two,no pool to entertain them in.Legion would be a better base there's a heap of surf schools around and yoga classes as well.
Once your day is done you can simply walk around and entertain the kids eat at some great places.

A little over two weeks to go frothing
