I'm about to buy a second hand mini-mal & am lucky enough to have 2 to choose from.
I have a nice 6'2" 7S Superfish II but I've been struggling to get off the white water, so I thought going back to a bigger board might give me that step up I need to get on a real wave.

The two boards are:
1) Star 7'6" x 21 1/4 x 2 7/8 $350, good condition, had one repair on the bottom. With fins but not leg-rope or tail pad.
2) 7'10" x 22 1/16 x 3 1/6 $450, very good condition. With fins, leg-rope & tail pad.

If anyone can give me any advice regarding which of the two boards might be the better choise let me know.

Cheers. :)

Without knowing your weight fitness its a hard call but go big imo for a faster learning period.

If your 90 - 100 kgs do not touch these boards,if your a light weight go the biggest/volume is your friend when starting out, mind you its mine as well for other reasons

Cheers for all the advice so far.

I'm on a really tight budget, which make getting a bigger board a bit tough.
Unfortunate those two boards are the very most I can afford at the moment.
I also only weigh 50kg & I'm quite fit, so I don't know if that should play into my decision.

I'll post photos as soon as I get my board... Once I've decided which one that is.

Get the 7'6 if they're your only choices, the thicker one will be tough to handle at your weight, too much volume IMO, I'm 20 kg heavier and my boards are usually 2 5/8 and your coming from a 6'2" so if you were getting waves on that the 7'6 should be fine.

Good luck and welcome...

Check sites like Gumtree and even the Seabreeze buy and sell. Gumtree usually has quite a few bargains under your price range and you can even haggle a bit to get a better deal from the seller. Thats where I normally buy my boards and stuff.

If you have the patience it pays off. I picked up a 7'6 for $120 once!

Just get an 8 footer off ebay. Stay away from cheap Asian boards that you can pick up very cheap. You will get what you pay for.
A McTavish board , while good, is not 100% essential.
