He is the cheeky grommet wha as SMH says puts out the line "chicks can't surf"

Supposedly he was just going to the beach and some chick ran past so he spat it out and was asked to reproduce it on film.. This could be bull**** but I don't think so

I'm pretty sure when they are at Wanda and one of the girls is getting ready to go out and Occys walks past with a few guys and says " chicks can't surf " . I'll have a look to try and find it .
You're from around that way aren't you Scotty ? I started at Cronulla . It was usually crowded . Glad I moved down the coast a bit.

I've seen it over 100 times I reckon and haven't spotted him in it. I think it was filmed in 79 or 81 so Occy would have been young but you wouldn't miss the jaw.
I'm on the case mate - got me curious now. Yeh I'm from round there - born and bred Maroubra mate. When the 'olds' split in 85 I moved with Mum to Kurnell and went to Cronulla High for 2 months and spent arvos hangin outside Windensea Surf Shop. Then got home sick and moved back to Maroubra with Dad.
Puberty Blues is in my top 3 movies ever.

Where did you live in Sydney Chrispy ?
I spent a lot of time down there as well. If we were game we would go out the point or walk around to Shelley or Sandshoes. Shoes was always a bit of an intimidating spot with the locals there. But it was mostly the beaches between the alley and green hills.
Scotty I'm pretty sure he,s in it.
you're going to have to watch the whole thing.

Windansea's been gone for a while now Scotty. We used to go down there if we were surfing at Eloura or Wanda and check out all the boards in there and they had heaps. I used to like the San Juan and Bob Brown boards and all single fins. I had an old Jacko 7 footer with a big yellow fin.

I got a few mates still there and they tell me parkings really bad and it's always packed. Gunnamatta Bay is a nice spot . Used to do a bit of fishing off the pool there. Ya caught me out initially with the 'mu crew' then worked it out. Yes, you would have had a good view of the rif raf sitting on the wall outside the surf shop from where you lived. Surf shop now block of flats. We'll have 20 beers one day and tell you a few stories.

Great movie.....seems a newer version maybe on the way...

The Shire, Ten's new TV reality show
March 19, 2012

'Snooki' (Nicole Polizzi) has become a household name across the US because of the success of Jersey Shore.
The question is who will be Australia's own "Snooki", with Ten announcing its own TV reality series based on the hit US show Jersey Shore.

With its stunning beauty and "tribe-like" community, the Sutherland Shire, in Sydney's south, has been chosen as the perfect location to shoot The Shire.

Network Ten has announced the commissioning of the series - which will follow the lives of a group of "charismatic" and "controversial" characters.

"The Shire is a fascinating look into a unique sub-culture in Australia and the first time a local dramality series is being introduced to the commercial television landscape," says David Mott, chief programming officer, Network Ten.

"The Shire is a glimpse behind the curtain into the heart of Australia as you have never seen it before."

"From their hectic and crazed social lives to problems with work and family, The Shire will leave no stone unturned," Mott says.

Just as the name "Snooki" (Nicole Polizzi) has become a household name across the US because of the success of Jersey Shore, Ten is hoping the characters on The Shire become some of the most talked-about in Australia.

Jersey Shore, which follows the lives of eight housemates from Jersey Shore in the US state of New Jersey, garnered record ratings for MTV, making it the network's most viewed series telecast ever.

"The genre has been a hit in the US (Jersey Shore) and the UK (The Only Way is Essex), changing the way people view television, and we intend to do the same," says Mott.

"The Shire epitomises the progression of reality television and in this social media age, we've built a show that is not only entertaining but capitalises on all the twitterverse and blogosphere has to offer.

"It is the next step in the reality TV phenomenon," says Mott.

Production on The Shire starts Monday March 26.

Yeh Ted it's been all over the newpapers as The 'Shire' mayor whom is female is blowing up and doesn't want the filming to proceed as she reckons it will portray 'The Shire' in a bad way. They are still feeling the affects of the Cronulla riots.
I picked up the first series of 'The Only way is Essex' last week and it's a crack up. Fark those pommies talk funny "know what I mean ?".

You shifted around a bit Chrispy but the more places you go the more people you meet . There are some nice spots down here and further south that aren't too crowded. I can't stand big crowds and lucky I get a lot of time off so I rarely ever surf weekends.
I'm not sure if the Christian Surfers are still around.
