Unannounced, a metro boardriders club decides to hold a club event at well known break (not their own) that already has an established Boardriders Club of its own.

Discuss.

Sharing is Caring

Did the local club have their comp on the same day,if so poor,if not who owns the break

If both where on the same day and there was some distance between them all good

oh was it at a WA secret spot

A local boardrider who himself rides a SUP paddles out to the Gold Coasts fattest wave on his shortboard and starts abusing all SUP riders claiming local status and that he was here first and that all SUP's should leave.

2 of us discussing his actions own houses within 5 minutes drive and attended the local primary and high school visible from the creek that flows through the break. Both of us have been surfing the wave for over 25 years. Should we leave also?

I'm thinking, maybe they could give the "established club a call out of courtesy" but then I'm thinking, no-one owns a break or wave do they .... Or do they, I think not.

But I'm a kook so what would I know

I guess my point is the "showing up unannounced" part that is more disappointing.

Obviously no one owns the beach and there is definitely no issue with sharing.

I think part of a Boardriders responsibilty is to protect the interests if their local, from both a members and non members perspective. While this time there was no clash on dates. To have not made a phone call to the local Pres their could have easily been and it wouldnt have been pretty from a crowds perspective.

There was an occurrence this year where there was 3 comps on in consecutive weekends. Which tested the patience of few non member locals. If a fourth had been thrown in because another non local club decided to hold another comp...?

There was probably a really short article in the local free paper...
I know, I'm not a big fan of board-riders clubs taking over a decent wave for the best part of an entire day.

But I don't really like BMW X-5's either. I don't like working 45 hours a week for somebody-else to profit. I don't like white 5'10 pro boards (because I can't ride them!). Don't really like asparagus. Don't like seeing wide bodied chicks in track-suit pants at the supermarket (or anywhere in public for that matter). And I don't like it when men or women drown themselves in expensive fragrances, and when you can still smell them minutes after they have gone.

In turn, I'm not a boardriders member, don't drive an X-5, don't work for someone else. Don't ride white 5'10's, and don't look at wide chicks in track pants after I have spotted them, and I just laugh at those people who drown themselves in fragrances!

But that's life hey!

In a round-a-bout way, I'm actually saying life's not all about what I like!
Get me drift!

We all need to "suck-it-up" from time to time.

Simondo, Wide bodied chicks were handy when kicking the can home at 4am in my early years.
Waking up next to them no so handy.

Sometimes life throws up other dilemmas. Like which boards to take to The Maldives, short or long sleeve rash/sun guard, which sunscreen will perform best during the many hours spent in the water surfing uncrowded perfect waves. To take booties, and if so, invest in warm water reef booties... How many pairs of boardies, three or four? Throw in the 1mm vest? Pack a bottle of bourbon or whiskey? Life's a bitch!

Jeepers. I can not believe you did that. I know those types of girls need loving too but I never knew who was doing it.....now i know

Simondo - I hear ya pain. I hate boardrider clubs when they take over the best best bank - especially when you were there first....then proceed to think that because they have a colored shirt on it means they can drop in because they only have 20mins to get their quota. I normally leave as soon as I see the tent going up as I hate hassle. But I have also been known to annoy them back on occasion if required / justified.

CMC - publically shame them!!!!!

All round LB and a mid length... Your Evo and the yellow Rincon would be sweet... Not much duck diving but paddle can be a biatch.....

short or long sleeve rash/sun guard,

long.... Unless you tan really well. For me I'd take 2 long sleeve and worst comes to worst, just surf in a T shirt.... Early is ok shirt off, if your a tanner, if your a burner cover up...

which sunscreen will perform best during the many hours spent in the water surfing uncrowded perfect waves.

Clear Zinc, for your head.... And Don't take banana boat, bananas and boats don't mix.....

To take booties, and if so, invest in warm water reef booties...

Nope don't need them, we didn't wear them at all... Took them, wore them first surf than not again.

How many pairs of boardies, three or four?

4, it's all you will wear.

Throw in the 1mm vest?
Nope, you won't need it, it is hot in the water....26 ish

Pack a bottle of bourbon or whiskey?

Nope, you won't get it through customs, Muslim country they will confiscate it, also porn, but sneak some in and your boat crew will love you... If you want a bottle, gin or vodka in a water bottle is the best option...

Life's a bitch!

And your a bastard...... And pack ya camera....

I like this camera. I think this would be a good choice for shooting from the boat in the channel, and taking into the line-up occasionally.

More than this.

How good is this for $100!! Not water resistant though.

I'll have a shot a this one aswell...

This one is good to, i know people with both, and have used them both. both are good cameras but I'd say the Panasonic just shades the Olympus on picture quality but has a slightly smaller zoom.

This one is good two for $100
