Hey so when looking at a board do you want heavy or light iyo?

What are the pros and cons of this in long boarding

6.5 kilo and under is a pretty good benchmark for High Performance (HP) Boards. Also referred to as Hyper-Form (thanks Billy Hamilton).

8.0 kilo and over is a bench mark for Logs, Nose Riders, etc. Even 8.5kg and over. Once you go over 10 kilo, you do have a pretty heavy board. If you had 2 exact same Logs at 8.5kg and 10.0kg... You would use the 8.5kg version every time... well I would!

Same for HP, if you had a robust 5.8kg board, you would ride that in lieu of a 7.2kg board...

I can give you an Excel Chart... you just punch in board type/style (fish, Longboard, shortboard, semi-gun, gun, etc), then punch in the dims... length, width, thickness, rail style, glassing type (top & bottom), foam density/type, and stringer type, and it accurately assimilates what the board weighs. It even has short cuts for Surftech, and SLX construction...

But this can be data overload for most people...

It punches out the estimated surface area, volume, and weight. It can even give you the estimated cross sectional area of the stringer... It also asks for stringer timber, stringer width, and timber type... Yes, "plywood" is the standard... It also over-rides if you enter 3 ply, or 5 ply... 3 ply is the standard Shorty stinger, and 5 ply is the standard Longboard stringer... What else do you want to know!?

I've developed it myself.

It's been a 7 year side project...
I could almost submit it as a University Doctorate... It ticks most of the required boxes, but I would need to sit in front of a panel for final approval.

It makes accurate predictions based on a number of inputs... Based on Mathematics, known densities, and assimilations to suit board template types, and thicknesses. Including the stringer data... It is not as complex as weather modeling, but it is almost the equal to the basic calculated ice volume in Antarctica, aside from the fact that they now have a few hundred thousand bore logs / data samples... Mine is based on roughly 80 different boards, actual data and measurements, matched up with all the theoretical product densities. 45 sample boards were know construction, and the rest required educated guess work.

Lacey, do you recall my measurements on the Naish 14, in the 666 room... That the detail I went through, and then some...

Can you alter foam density?

Can I have a copy?

CMC,
Yes you can alter foam.

Why would I give him foam dust?

Thanks guys I ask as I was looking at a 9 4 x 23 x 3 in a shop and picked it up and was taken back by the weight

The guy said it is better for nose riding if heavy and paddles onto waves better with the extra weight

My 10 foot brownie is way lighter than this board and got me wondering
