Hey guys, I started surfing around easter time last year. Started on a 6 ft 19 wide and 2 inch thick. I progressed fairly well...always seem to struggle to paddle lol. I was catching waves and riding them (nothing special but i was up and going)

I was sitting at about 72kgs and 172cm tall. Then i started taking body building seriously and im now sitting at 84kgs same height and ill admit not as flexible as i once was.....

any way with the gym being the main priority i have not surfed much at all. I went for a surf recently and found that board i was using was sinking, i could not paddle as we and even when i got on a wave it seemed...off

Anyways i decided to go out and buy a much larger board. Since i wont be surfing 5 times a week like before more like 2 times a week i went with a 7'4 x 21 1/4 x 2 11/16 mini mal.

I cant wait to take it out when the surf comes good again on the gold coast! Do you think this board will be more suited and easier to ride then more short board?

Cheers!

You'll definitely notice the benefit when paddling and getting 'onto' the wave... you'll just need to adjust your paddling position and stance to suit the new board.

PS - I did the same thing with weight lifting... many years later I wish I hadn't and now only lift occasionally and want to surf more. Beware the bulk - it's hard to shift later on.
