I have been taking a trip down memory lane of late with regards to old school surf movies. The long extended flat spell has left me in need of inspiration

Finished North Shore last night - some classic lines and terrible acting but a good watch - must be 20yrs since I last saw it!

At the w/e I watched Bustin' down the door - what an epic movie that one is. Loved it the 5th time round as much as the first. Even the lady enjoyed watching it.

I have morning of the earth to watch at some point - will probably wait till I have the house to myself so I can pump up the volume.

Next on the list will be one of my all time fav's Riding Giants - nothing beats the sideline commentary of Greg Noll. I could listen to him all day long.

Big Wednesday will also be high on the list. Must have seen this flick 20 times but can not wait for the next showing.

I am yet to see The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters - so will try and track that down as well.

I will also re-watch sea of darkness as I loved that one as well.

I need to find me a copy of Mad Wax I guess as well. And it would be mad not to include the Endless Summer flicks.

Any others I should be thinking of watching? As you can see here its more a documentary theme rather than just pure surf movie.

fixed it ^^

But yes - it is perhaps THE best soundtrack ever isn't it? I wore out the vinyl, then then the tape, now I have it on the computer and disc.
The other flick I like (but it may not be old enough yet to qualify) is Step Into Liquid - the spirit of it as much as the actual surfing. A bit like the boys' weekend surftrip thread - it's not necessarily about great surfing or perfect waves. Sometimes great fun with great friends in sh!t waves will do just fine.

Ive got Chasing Mavericks, watched it with the wife and not to give away too much, she had tears in her eyes at the end and I must admit to a bit a lump in the throat, not just a surf movie much much more, but great surf scenes also. Drift was also a surf movie which transcends the genre.

Thanks Fellas.

Drift - I did not remember that one SP and Stuk until I just googled it and realised I had seen it. Some classic moments from memory in that one. Will have to watch that again as well now.

Ctngdvibes - 2 of my all time fans when I was young. Now you have just reminded me that I should add the Occumentary to the list as well - thanks !

Wavelength - lets just say that why the lady is away the boy will play. The volume will go up large to reflect the quality of the sound track. Sometimes these experiences can be enhanced with the right kind of volume Step into liquid - I have definitely seen that - but can not recall it all. Its on the list !!

Scored the Paul Witzig trilogy, Hot generation, Evolution & Sea of Joy. See if you can find them just great watching Lynch at that age & what he was doing on those boards. Good sound track too.

Yeah would love to see Mad Wax again since it was mentioned in Kong's book that one of the waves was an island off Queensland.

I've seen both Drift & Chasing Mavericks. I enjoyed Drift a lot more coz it was cool seeing places I know in the movie

Wouldn't mind seeing, "Follow the Sun" again too. That was a pretty cool movie.
