Are these boards any good. Looking at get back into surfing after a number of years away from it . I want something the kids can muck around with and I can use to have some fun on in 2 to 3 foot waves

I often used a bic longboard in the past and have to say it's a good shape.
Solid as a brick too!
I guess they are heavy in comparison to PU and epoxy boards, but the sheer durability of them is great.
Not as learner/kid friendly as soft tops though, some of which are great for smaller days /

they are bullet proof. Had one for a couple of years, sold it no long ago for close to what I paid for it,. Mine was a 9'0" and was perfect for getting back into longboarding ( never stopped short boarding but got back into long boarding about a decade ago after a 4 year absence).

the board I had was a shape by Gerard Dabbadie, A frog. even used it at solid Padang Padang after snapping y gun and had one of my best sessions ever., they are awesome no doubt......however having said that there's some good value for money longboards at the Surfboard Warehouse. Idol make sure I'd check them also, better value for money but probably not as lid proof.

I hired a 9'4" Bic shaped by Rooster (Nat Young model) a few years back in Torquay when my board was out of the water with repairs. Absolutely blew me away- great board. Surf was good though so may or may not be relevant!

Tough as. Love the 9'4" Rooster. Paddles into waves so well and has good glide and speed. Call others into your waves. Your board won't get hurt if you bump rails accidentally. If it does get dinged you can even fix it with araldite or p-tex.
What size are you thinking?

Looking at a secondhand 9ft classic .I had a bic windsurfing board and it proved to be a good tough board.I was surprised at the prices of a new board at the surfing warehouse it's almost cheaper to buy a new board than a secondhand one. I not sure how long they would last with the kids using it
