Hi all!

My partner and I have recently taken up longboarding over the past few months and are having so much fun! I wanted to pick some brains about spots and locations around the Illawarra and South Coast as this is our local area.

Currently we know a few good spots such as
The Farm (Good but busy)
South end of Bulli Beach (Short lefts/rights)

I've heard Barrack Point is also good, being able to ride waves in towards the bridge? But we haven't been yet and I'm unsure of the best conditions to go, swell, wind, tide etc. I can't post links imgur.com/a/1I5Pkiv

We're heading down to Broulee to hit up some beaches so I thought I'd try post here first to hopefully get some insights around surfing spots for longboarding, swell direction, wind, tide in those locations too.

I fully understand people like keeping locations secret to stop out of towners, what we're really looking for is known spots to the general public that we can enjoy some long smooth waves on and hopefully hang five (yeah right!).

Cheers
Dan

I mean that's fine, it is what it is.

We've always been in to body surfing so it wasn't ever an issue then either.

Hi Danwood,
You might like to consider contacting a longboarders club (for example mollymooklongboarders.com/contact-us/ ). Mal clubs are often really convivial social groups where talent isn't the be all and end all. Also, local surf shops when you are on the road might help.
No one on Seabreeze actually rides longboards. We used to, now we talk about fins and beer and hope someone has an argument about whether you should put the board on the roof with the fin at the front or at the back.
Good luck on the search.

Heaps of sand banks in the top section near the caravan parks.

And the spot if Gerroa which is included in weather .

Ask if anyone seen Gilligan.

Good longboard club at Gerroa. Last Sunday of the month. 7am start wind and swell permitting. Nice bunch except for Gilligan (joking .... or am I ... nudge nudge). I remember when I was a youngster many years ago we would head down the coast and drive down just about every road and track exploring.

To discover your next spot, you can join groups online and check out forums. Getting info on the best places near me is just one of the many perks of keeping tabs on fellow enthusiasts.
