Hi All!

Long time no post in here!

Can someone tell me what I am looking for..

I want something that will suit mushy beach breaks as a 85/90kg beginner.

I'm not really keen on the whole short board style. But I realize I've got a long way to go before I even have an ounce of style. So is that what I'm looking for? A shortboard with a lot of volume? (Would love a singlefin, or even a fish)

Basically I want something that is going to allow me to play in waves that are to **** for everyone else. :P

Get something up around 6'10-7'6 with fair bit of width and volume like the fat burner and others that are similar, theres heaps on Gumtree and ebay, don't listen to the from at your local surf shop if anything drop by a local shaper and give them details of what you're after

Volume is your friend - those catching the most waves are generally having the most fun

Don't under estimate how great soft tops are to begin surfing on, they are perfect. No fear of damaging you or those around you. Easy to paddle, almost impossible to ding. I have friends who are very experienced surfers who opt to surf them in summer instead of a longboard due to their volume & wave catching ability. They can be picked up for less than $200, I'd say grab one about 7 foot & have fun

Thanks for getting back to me lads, much appreciated!

I have thought about a foamy. Would be a great hand me down also.

I know it sounds funny already trying to put together a quiver. Currently on Macs old 9'6 Evo. :)

My wife learned to surf on a 7'6" foamy that both our children learned on. Even go a bit longer say 8foot. Great fun boards.

agree...read my post in the where did you surf thread. I surfed a 7ft one in small sucky beachies. I had the most fun I had in a long time in crap like that.

one of the lads asked what would I think of it to learn on and not just a piss take . imo they are super easy to paddle, they catch so many waves, super stable to surf. whether it be on the pop ,on your knees or actually standing up. your confidence would go through the roof knowing you cannot really kill yourself on one.

my wife heard me bragging about my session and she is now keen to jump in the water my fin chop and other stories off beatings had turned her off learning to surf.
im stoked because I will have one to surf whenever I like
