Hi,

Not really surfing related but I have owned a lot of pushbikes but never a cruiser. Thinking of picking up a cheapie just because they look cool.

Do any ölder" folk here have one? Are they worth it it just a gimmick and maybe I stick to my old MTB.

Do you miss gearing if you go for the base model with no gears.

Thanks

Mate we have 3 Electra cruisers in the house all with 3 speed on the grip. By far the best way to get around, wide rubber and a kick arse seat.

I have a Electra too, Mac put me onto them. 3 speed and exactly what the name suggests, "cruiser". I love mine for the flat stuff, very comfy, not so much if there's hills involved.

If you are only on flats get one. Otherwise if you really are that sorta bike inclined, I would go more of a hybrid. Those fats tyres on the electras are a bit hard when you are riding a lot.

Consider a fat bike, so versatile. Every time you ride, you can't help but smile.

Yeah mate, flames were a bit too flamboyant.
I'm more of a flat black kind of guy. Rims will get it next.

Hi Tezza
Yes amazing in the sand. You need to get the bikes that can run the 4.5-5" big tyres, so 190/197mm rear spacing.
Set up tubeless I often go down to 2-3 psi. In that photo, a 12 km stretch of sand, so 24km round trip. Sand conditions do change, so can't always get all the way. In winter we ride some big dunes, when the sand is holding some moisture

Thanks guys, I can see a whole nother worl here.

The Electra ones look good but I think I will just pick up a cheapy of Gumtree to see if I like it. Also a bit worried it will get pinched while I am in the water.

I do like the sound of a battery though

Cheers

^^^^

Looks like a highly engineered basket carrier and rear view mirror mount.

I pick my new bike up tomorrow.

Unfortunately no new board for Christmas this year.

good spotting......I hadn't even mentioned the rear view mirror. Makes riding in traffic a much happier occasion. Was originally the green electrical wiring holding up the front of the basket. Now has wood braces running from bottom rear of basket to the top front of basket on each side.....can't see as inside basket
