Few months back Booked a Bali trip in April with the family- now having second thoughts , couldn't give a f..ck about the corona virus but being stuck in quarantine for 2 weeks or being locked out at the Border would be a massive pain in the butt . .Reckon there would be thousands of others in the same situation.

My best mate is going Monday I was going to join him. I was there 3 weeks ago and frothing to go back seriously there is no way I'll be leaving AU. Chances are you will be locked out of Australia the way things are going. Get a refund as you booked before the virus. I was going to do so much traveling this year but nope I'll stay right here.

It sucks . Rang the travel agent today to see what the go is . If we cancel we get half our accomadation back , so blow about $ 1000 , cancel the flights we get 75 percent back through travel insurance .Think that's about $2000 gone . Not complaining heard another lady blew $18000 yesterday at the same travel agent cancelling a holiday .But as you say being locked out of Australia could cost a lot more then that - especially being in a self employed small business . Would be great in Bali atm - had some friends there last week reckon the place is empty.

Yes it was very quiet the other week due to no Chinese flights I'd say it will be even more so right now.

I'd just ignore all the warnings, Bali hasn't even got a single case.
Their government is super honest and if you get sick over there they have world class hospitals, it's a first world country.
With the WHO announcing a pandemic there will be no insurance paid out .
But that doesn't matter it's only 2 grand a day in one of the hospitals.
Its easy enough to start a go fund me page, heaps of aussies do it, fall of a motorbike no insurance or get in a fight go fund me has your back.
And if you do get sick and don't have to go to hospital you get an extended holiday for at least two more weeks, maybe even get a couple weeks on Christmas Island.
I would be there in a heartbeat, get involved.
Dont worry even if you get locked out of Aus you can claim asylum and go to Nauru or Christmas you island for another holiday,

My daughter was going in April - not going now. We are booked for a week in late July - which was a postponed (and paid for) trip from before my shoulder recon. I'm also in for about $2,000 as got a super deal on fancy accom, and essentially paid again for Jetstar flights as got cheapies that I could not transfer... We've got a few months so will assess closer.

FYI - lady from work came back from Bali on Wednesday and work will not allow her back. Not sure if that is sick/personal leave as privately owned company.

Yep GPA Jetstar are absolute ****s from our experience . We are booked to fly out from Brisbane to Bali - planned to catch up with the family in SE Qld in the way , to change the dates of the Jetstar flights from tas to Brisbane actually costs more then the flights originally cost . Have been told by the travel agent Jetstar flights are not covered by travel insurance WTF? .We will not be flying Jetstar again .

AFL this morning saying their experts reckon Australia is going to be at peak infection level during Easter - so not great timing .
Also read this morning so far Bali has only tested about 20 in total so nobody really has any idea of infectious level there - the locals believe their gods are protecting them .1 British tourist died their a few days ago - but they think she had the infection before arrival - and like most she had pre- existing issues . We are all pretty healthy so thinking the infection to us would be just like a bad flu . The quarantine though would be a financial kick in the guts .

Razzonater do you know if Naaru or Christmas Island includes free drinks and food - could be like a free cruise without the ship

I heard 34 cases in Bali, not sure if that's correct but BALI is a magnet for global travelers and I wouldn't trust one word coming out of the Indonesian government on this one. They have to be industry and it's about to close down. The better expats who own bars clean bs and restaurants are getting together to take action because they all know they are fked.

Yep very sad for the Balinese people . Talking to one of the locals last time we were over there - he lost everything ( his business , life savings ) after the Bali bombings - now in his 70s driving taxis for about 5 bucks a day to make a living . This could be even worse .

I'd go for sure, just wear a mask. Don't rub your mouth, nose or eyes without using an antibacterial swab, gel or wash. Don't get a massage & most importantly enjoy surfing possibly slightly less crowded waves.

I'm headed to Japan in July to drive the Northern coast from Sendai (place where most tsunami footage was from 9 years ago, 11 Mar 2011) to the Northern most tip & hopefully scoring some waves along the way.

Also bought tickets to Bali for September, staying Sanur.

There is no way I'm cancelling trips unless I'm forced to & if I get stuck in either place I'll be stoked

The daughter is over there at the moment - having a ball. Its still pretty busy she recons. She doesn't surf but showed some footage of Kuta and there's plenty out there.

Just cancelled Taiwan east coast trip and they appear to be really well organised for virus management but I don't fancy getting diagnosed over there and stuck in isolation ( although happy to spend the 14 days at surf accomodation). At the moment Losing air fares as flight still happening but hoping any cancellation of flight will result in credit/refund. Opinions?

I don't believe the virus will pick up on your old heart condition you're a fit bull mate. If you're mate turning 60 has less than 500 at his party you don't have a excuse for not going because the PM said so

Pete was told last night that if you have paid for flights via credit card you can get a full refund - sounds odd but will be chasing it up tomorrow .We have decided to cancel at this stage - seems to be getting more complicated by the day .Latest talk here in Tas is that any trips overseas to Australia could result in 2 weeks quarantine - same as the NZ situation

Lacey was told gargling wine every 15 minutes can protect from infection . But then a few weeks back they reckoned snorting cocaine did the same

I'm in Bali atm and here till next week, I was screened coming in and since then have been told up to 200 visitors have been turned around due to high temps etc. We'll have to self quarantine when we get back but that's ok, I think in Oz they should do a two week national lockdown if it's viable, anyway it's really quiet on the streets and beaches over here and getting some good waves but looking forward to getting back home to familiar surroundings in case the **** hits the fan in next few weeks. One reported case here with extenuating health conditions so all good here atm, if I'd booked for next week I'd probably can it - just not worth the risk to your family for a holiday that's pretty cheap anyway.Did I say it's uncrowded in the waves- apart from the frothing locals

The Americans have a saying: "If you go to Mexico you will die."
Just change the name of the country to your choice of destination.

"Static" gatherings. Since they been moved on gumtree it should be sweet.
