Booked a flight to Bali for the end of April into May. We usually stay at the Green Garden in Tuban which is great value & just over the road to jump on a boat to hit the reefs. Feel like staying somewhere different for a change, but want to be on the beach with a short walk to the boats for a before brekky surf.

Anyone got any recommendations for a place up to about $110 a night that is pretty much on the beach between Kartika & the Holiday Inn? Thinking of Santika & the Holiday Inn atm.

Hmmm might havta be the Green Garden again. Everywhere decent I've found is like $500 more over the 10 days.

In 95 I stayed at a place called 'Nakula'.
It was located behind Poco Loco's at Legian.
5000 RP per night (about $3 oz). By all accounts it's no longer there. No air con and just ignore the stains on the mattress. Bloody cheap but.

LOL yeah apart from being in Legian it probably would have suited me back then if I were single. The missus is coming along, so gotta get something nice : P

But I got all spontaneous & farked up booking the wrong Green Garden. I looked at the photo & it looked like the same place. Its out on snail pace Kartika freeway, instead of deserted streets Jalan Jengala...got nice reviews though & its very close to all the stuff the missus likes. Trying to decide on cancelling or a 10 minute walk to the boats or zipping down on a scooter

Yeh wish I had a dollar...
The biggest change would be seminyak from what I hear.
As well as Uluwatu - was there in 88 and had to walk down goat track from main road.
Sorry Chrispy, there goes the 80's reminiscing again.

Yeah its just build-build-build & they're planning to start building a train line sometime in the near future. I was there January last year, stayed at Blue Point Villas overlooking Ulu's for a few days. It was the same old rough track to get down there, not as rough as way-way back, but rough. Went back in September few months later & they've brick paved down to Ulu's, they've also got a few bitumen roads around behind Impossibles/Bingin now, almost all the way over to Dreamland. The government gave all the materials to the locals & they did it themselves... & yeah Seminyak is basically connected to Kuta now.
