What do you mean parent?

If you mean someone who is responsibly going to raise a child to be a good member iof society then yes. My partner will be a parent soon.

But to be honest I am pretty stoked and excited. 9 weeks today and there will be a little SP...

Congrats on the new bub SP.

A few tips:

*When you arrive home from work, ask the Mrs is there anything you can do to help out.
Trust me, it's the last thing you want to do after a hard days work but the brownie points will start adding up as she will appreciate you asking. You are hoping she says "thanks for asking but I've got it covered". She will appreciate you thinking of her. Remember she has bub 24/7.

*Leave the occasional LOVE post it note around in the morning such as on the microwave oven door and places she will find them first thing in the morning. A few lovey dovey words.

*On occasions, call her a supermum and ask her "How do you do it". They want you to understand and realise how hard it is to have the bub 24/7 with not much of a break.

*There's a chance she'll get moody due to lack of sleep and snap at you. Just suck it up as we all cop it on occasions. Remember the 24/7 thing.

*You can't use your camera and video camera enough and buy photo albums like the old days and fill them (don't get too sucked into the digital age). You'll appreciate it in years to come.

*Most of all ENJOY.

Too true, the digital stuff is great, but there's something really special about a print and a fair dinkum old fashioned photo album, you just keep going back to the albums decade after decade, and passing a laptop around at family gatherings just doesn't have the same feeling.

And don't forget to jot down all milestones in the baby book, my daughter never has her nose out of the one we did of her 30 years ago, now that she's a mother.

Congratulations
