Interesting fact - in their 85 year test history India have only recovered once after loosing the opening test of a 4 or 5 match series to win the series. That was 44 years ago in 1973 against England at home.
Being a numbers man (I work in bank) one of the things I love about cricket is the endless stats & records which can be referenced to support / counter just about every situation or opinion.
Numbers though are only half the story, ie who is the greatest fast bowler? DK, Trueman, Ohh Ahh, Marshall, Holding, Lindwall?
Can you compare batsman past & present? Uncovered pitches, protection/ helmets, smaller grounds, bigger bats, better fielders, fitness / strength. Bradman is stand out, does anyone really rate Adam Vogues the 2nd best batsman of all time on a purely statistical average? He only played a handful of tests but where does Barry Richards sit?
Who,is better Tendulka or Lara?
Which was better SCG innings Lara 277, Tendulkar 2004 when he only played in front of the wicket b/w cover & mid wicket, Dean Jones 190 odd against England 86/87.
Lots of questions there Daz.
I'm hoping they're rhetorical.
Too much thinking required
