Last time it feel on a w/e I was overseas and missed it. Normally when it falls mid-week and its a day off work its a no brainer what will be happening......so my question is this year will Saturday be more like a normal Saturday or more like a traditional Aust. Day? Should I be booking myself some accom in Manly with a mate and heading down for a big day out or will it be a fizzer? If the surf is looking good it will be irrelevant anyway

Anyone got anything exciting planned?

I am with LL if conditions are suitable - if not I could be chasing Scotty's idea........found this today - only have a sneak peek if you do not need till wait until the big day...Simondo may love how they did this I would think that the lower numbered songs would be very accurate off a sample size like this - so be warned before you click in - you have been warned!!!

Welcome to web's most accurate prediction of Australia's popular music countdown - Triple J's Hottest 100. By pulling in votes from every person who has shared their vote publicly, this is how we think it'll go down. By doing so we do not intend to spoil your Australia day, ruin your party or soil your wedding dress. It's simply an experiment in shared data, where we have tallied 35,081 votes from 3,602 entries (roughly 2.7% of the total vote) and would like to share that with you.

Will be surfing somewhere local on the northern beaches, then heading in to the city to see a show Saturday night.

Sunday and Monday will be in the water in the am, then chilling round the house in the pm.

Aussie Day has become Gazza Day for us. 1 year ago on Aussie day the old boy passed away, needless to say we missed the 3 barbies we were invited to.

This year the whole family from near and far is gathering to remember the legend. 1 year anniversary. RIP to the bloke who gave so much to so many.

Yes boys he had the Aussie Flag on his coffin, the cops came and sent him off with career history.

Over 700 people at the funeral and so many stories from so many people we never even knew existed about how he'd helped their business, got them jobs, saved their family, been to court for them, lent them money, consoled them in hard times. They just kept coming. This is years after he left the coppers working for Mantra here on the Goldy.

We carried him out to the tune of Con te partiro' (Time to say goodbye) his favourite song that brought the place to their knees. A great Operatic piece of brilliance in that occasion that made everyone break down and let the healing process begin.

It's gonna be a great day, he'd be so pissed if we did not enjoy the day so in full respect we will. Australia day will forever more for us be shared with Gazza day.

Thanks for sharing that CMC. I wish you well on the big day and every day - if I lost my mum it would make life very very tough. Hang in there and do the old boy proud!

Sharpie - we need the neighbour to cut down some of his tree so when we look east the fireworks are more dominant Maybe some fool will lose it on the roundabout and save us both the trouble!

I like the idea of a lamb on the spit at Chrispy's

Might be unlucky Bill they are forecasting a southerly to return Saturday morning , but you never know your luck .

Don't know much about the northeast bill but there must be some nice point breaks up that way somewhere . I assume when the surf is up here it would be the same there .

What do you reckon about that 11 foot oxbow on gumtree for small surf days , or should I ask you that next door

I see they are pushing to change the name to citizens day , to me that would be like changing the American day of independence so people aren't offended . Bit wrong IMO

Sweet, good on you Tassie for taking in a family member in need

Watched some of them on TV the other night, they had some that we're hand raised and pretty tame but the wild ones were a whole different story...

This one was a funny thing SP she could be as friendly as a domestic animal but when she was pissed look out .

We passed her onto a carer who is going to hand feed her for a bit then release her back into the bush .

Yeah that was exactly it even the semi wild ones were ok, they let the handlers get close. But soon as they fired up all hell broke loose. Like throwing a set of steak knives in a blender
