Just a reminder that our barmaid tonight is the lovely Stefanie Jennifer. Stef is working from 3pm 'til closing. So come on in and order your beers, bundy or bourbon. We're informed that she also makes excellent cocktails. We don't even mind that her last name is a first name!

Good choice - I have just been on the wrong end of a statistical rarity (yes Simondo you will love this) - she spun 11 heads in a row - I went from being up 3 units to down 6 units in a very short space of time!!!

Lets think about this just a little - assuming they are fair coins then the chance of spinning a head is 0.5. To throw 2 in a row is 0.5 * 0.5. So for 11 in a row is 0.5^11 = 0.000488281 or in normal terms about 2000 to 1!!!!!

Its with great relief that I did not start doubling up on tails after 6 spins like I wanted too!!! The risk aversion in me came threw when I needed it most. Thank farrrrk for that.

Anyway I am home now and can enjoy the barmaids (surely more than one is on duty on a busy night like tonight) in the green room

Assuming 2 coins are thrown, 1 in 4 chance of 2H (HH,HT,TH,TT are the 4 possibilities)
and so on chance of HH & HH in 2 throws is 1 in 16 chance and so on I think.

Edit: I think 2nd throw is 1 in 8. sos simondo

Yes but in 2 up - 3 coins are thrown each time so there is always a result of either a heads or tails winner (e.g.: HHH, HHT,HTH, THT etc . So the chance of a heads or a tail is always 0.5 as on every throw either a H or T will always out score the other. I was just showing that the odds of getting 11 heads in a row is pretty small and hence a rare event

I assumed '2 up' meant 2 coins are thrown. I only played it once and was pissed as and was about 17 years ago. I guess if I don't even know how many coins are thrown I am not going to wager any further input.

Your actually both right boys, 2 or 3 coins can be used, i think its a bit like the 2 shot rule in pool, local tradition applies, most places I've been to up here use 2 but 3 is good always get a result.
