first bommy at longy was good the Saturday arvo before last, water is still real nice to.

Walked the dog at curly that same morning and saw a few loggers enjoying themselves with the occasional overhead.

Stuffed buy the following day but there's been some fun beechies around, great for old farts like me.

A lot of the banks I've been used to for many years have really changed but the biggest shock was about 3 weeks back when I went up Coffs way.

The beaches were ripped to shreds and all the breaks were way out the back because that's were all the sand from the beach was.

Just an example, I've been visiting Woolgoolga since about 1962, 3 weeks ago I for the first time, I saw a shipwreck called the Buster that had been buried on the beach for over a hundred years and for almost 50 of them, I was walking over it without ever knowing it was there.

Work has been a little out of control of late, short staff,so I had to step up the hours and sort it out With this and lack of swell,i didn't hit it for a couple of weeks Then,I get the call, you have to go to Bali and fix things.
No time for a wave (first time without even thinking about taking the stick).
So not a happy camper until last weekend. Surfed Sat and Sun,Sunday reminded me of First Piont Noosa, perfect little sliders.Low tide grinders.

So life is better when you surf.

Yeah it is - top it off couple guys from work are doing an early morning raid to a sacred hollow ground tomorrow and I've been told I can't go because I've got to be around the place at 8 tomorrow am - and top it off there going saturday as well but I've got to do a freaking adventure race (I hate adverture races - don't ask) - not happy Jann

Though I'll try to get out at queenscliff early light I'll take a pick but not expecting anything too special - Then again I haven't surfed in close to 3 weeks, somethings wrong here.

Having banged on about nothing to do with topic the guys on the Vicco coast look like they've had a great run this last couple weeks!

I've been reading the vico's have been staved of late, but it sounds like they are getting some.
Maybe a little off the topic but I really do feel alive after a good surf.Probably like any footie player does after playing,oh to be young again. The better half and two girls are working in vic this weekend,as girls do its a long weekend Friday to Tuseday Just me and the young fella [}:)]

The takeaway and bottle shops are in for a roaring trade, and at the top of the list we will be surfing our kegs off

happy days ahead, life is really better when you surf mac

A day off.

Couldn't decicide whether to go north or south ( from where I live, either Perth or Mandurah).

"Thanks Greg", I decided on Gearies. Friday, Three guys out (don't tell anyone). Clean and up to Head high

In 3 weeks I'm going to the north coast of NSW (looking forward to see you Team Egg) so I thought I would try out the (in my view) short board, the 7'6" McCoy.

Woo-hoo. Only caught half a dozen or so waves but wow. Had a ball, even though I nearly had a heart attack, I'm getting old (54) but I'm not giving up.

If only my view of the moves I made was the same as reality. Having said that, it was fantastic to throw the board around and get the heart pumping.

Looking forward to some waves over there. I'm pumped.

Remember this everybody, once you go to a different surf spot, no one is a local.
Also how do you define a local, do you live there or have you been surfing there for a while. What happens when you go on a surf trip.

Do you want me to treat you like **** when you come over here, or would you prefer me to say hi and treat you like another human being?

I reckon a local is somone who lives near by and surfs the break regularly

HOwever,

My golden rule is to treat others in and out of the water how you want to be treated. I know what its like to be hassled at the local and it can be quite frustrating.Aint a real lot anyone can do about that.
Intentional dropping in is not cool and causes situations to esculate.

Best way I've found to beat this is to chat friendly to the guy who's hassling, give him a coupla waves and when its your turn shread that wave so there's nothing left of it. Usually they seem to back off a little at this point.
Every one has to earn respect at some point.

Sharing is caring

Forget about clean lines, I’m never going out in decent surf again.

Today I found a really crap wave and had it all to myself, I was happy enough being the only one in the water. Then no fewer than 4 hotties on mals paddled out and surfed with me for a half hour or so before the wind stuffed it.

And most of them started chatting with me, this may be no big deal as far as you guys are concerned but when you,re as old, fat & ugly as me , it’s a real event.

Sadly enough, they probably only did it because there was no one else around and I looked too far past it to be of any danger, but hey, I take my jollies whatever way I can.

Yeh, I was SUPing. I stayed in closer to G'mount as I am still newish to SUPs and like to keep some distance from others. 13kgs of board can do some damage to surfers and boards when out of control. Still had fun. Won't be long and I will be out the back in no time.

No nice clean lines, same crappy spot as last week but I think I'm improving so I'm going to keep going there because I get the waves pretty much all to myself.

I'm starting to do crossovers, that may not sound like much, but for me it's a big deal.

^ I have no idea what you just said so I'm going to have to go with - no it wasn't me

I'm starting to get excited about the forcast for this weekend for some nice spring / winter surfing. Having said that the Northern Beaches is going to be KooKsville I'll have to take some shoots - the pic of the standup on Sprouts looked good this morning for the lack of swell in Manly this morning.

Speaking of the northern beaches, I'll be keeping a close eye on a certain lagoon opening if the dump of rain expected on Thursday is a real big'n.

Since it's been closed the banks in front of it have squared off and lost all their oomph and shape.

I don't think one days rain would open it but you never know.

yeah it is a bit flat don't think the lagoon opening will fix that....

Everythings a bit square at the moment, though MV wasn't too bad a lunch short rides but still a bit of fun and there was only 4 out as the conditions weren't that good (tell that to the couple handfulls of waves I caught).

Last two Mornings at manly where good fun - whole northern beaches are firing so manly isn't too busy.

Waves'll be blown out a little after lunch from the looks of it.
