Not the point down south, I mean the one up near Brooms Head.

A mate told me he was there fishing a while back and saw little peelers running for 200 meters off the island.

I tried to find some info on the place, but all I could find was this camping vid of the area.

At the 1 minute mark you can see it's got some potential on the right day.

It looks to be a bit out of the way if you're traveling north, but I may pull in for a look see on my next road trip.

Never been there but it looks nice and quiet which I've always liked. I reckon it would be well worth a look in winter when the winds are mostly good. It's more than likely sharky.

I've actually been there, it was March 1st 2003, but not for surfing, just a buggy run through the bush, we actually saw both sides of the Sandon river, if you know the place, you'd know difficult that could be, even though they're only a few metres apart.

I never looked at the surf that day, but I can remember seeing the isthmus and the little island. and a do recall a few people paddling across the river from the southern side to go for a surf somewhere on the northern side.

I'll try to find out what's needed before it's worthwhile to go in there.

Very fickle and very rare to get all the elements to align.
Lovely part of the world, but much better waves within short driving distances.
And as someone pointed out before, very sharky...

I'd never go to a place like that without fishing gear.

No, up north, but I hear that Sandon Point down near the gong is also a killer wave.

Like Cronulla Point, Sandon Point is a locals wave. You have to earn your place.

It was like that in the 70's and I am told worse now when it is on. We surfed it a lot in the 70's and I can still remember the abuse we copped.

Though I didnt get punched in the head there like I did at Cronulla Point.

When we lived in Manly we used to do day trips down there to Sandon when it was on. Super good wave. Never had any troubles with the locals there. Must have been lucky

Good old Ralph Rotten. Who else?

I was about 17 and trying to assert myself and he didn't like it. He had called me on a wave, I pulled out immediately, a few waves later, same scenario but with me inside, I called him and he pulled out.

When I paddled back out he told me to Feek off back to the Wall and punched me in the face. I blacked out momentarily then thought I am out of here.
