Hey Guys,

Obviously a couple of people post videos that they have put together, was wondering how many are into photography? Surf based or not?

What equipment is everyone using? Canon, Nikon, Go Pro, Pentax or whatever. I myself am using a Nikon D3100 and a variety of basic lenses but still have gotten some great shots. Also use a Go Pro for the water stuff.

Favourite photo you have taken?

Favourite things to photograph? Aside from boards...

Hadn't seen a thread like this yet so I thought I would post one.

Looking forward to your input.

Tom.

Hey Tom

Love a bit pf photography myself. I am a canon person - have a 60D with an L Series 70-200 F4 and a 10-22 F3.5 did angle and a 50mm prime F1.8 which I love. Presently on the road with limited internet access but will try and post you a couple of pics from the last few days later on. Can not access my surf shots as they are at home. I love taking shots of waves but mostly do landscapes and have been doing a bit of street photography here in Vietnam. Great fun. Would love to get myself a full frame camera but can not justify the swap over just yet Canon 5D Mk 3 is the one I would love to get.

Post some pics of your waves.........

ET I can just imagine you at the local talent quest......'Well ladies and gentlemen, I don't think any of our contestants this evening have succeeded in encapsulating the intricacies of Proust's masterwork, so I'm going to award the first prize this evening to the girl with the biggest t--s.'

I was trying to keep it clean given Tom's youth. But now that you have started it

5D Mk 3? Wow. I would rather buy a house they are almost that damn expensive! Great camera though.

I would love to upgrade to a Nikon D7100, only yesterday did I find out it wasn't a full frame, only a DX format with a built in focus motor but they have pretty good specs, the video is quite attractive too.

Got a couple of good surf shots the other day, was about 6-8 foot in the morning and am sorry to say I was out there not filming. The swell dropped to about 3-4 feet in the arvo and was still great! Here they are:

Here are some other ones:

Obviously done in lightroom but that is half the fun!

Hope you like them!

Tom.

Before the drone craze, kite aerial photography was my Shtik.

Have a look here if you're interested...

The key is a cam with multiple still frames mode.

Kiting for ariel photography? Never heard of it but it's actually such a great idea!

Many people still do it now that drones are taking over?

Some great shots weiry!

Do you have a link to that photo or is that one you took yourself? If you do I could confirm but it looks like it may be Swansea to me but that is a big guess. Just looks like same sort of vegetation. Great surf there too when it's on.

The 105 macro, that isn't the 18 - 105 is it? Or is it an older Nikon lens?

Your right about it being a harsh world, definitely not a career I am seeking. More of a hobby. I took photos for my girlfriend's leavers the other day and then that night after I had posted the photos on facebook I was asked to take photos for a wedding next year haha.

Cheers,
Tom.

Actually Ted, you are right I would say. It is the dunes. See the mountain range on the right of the photo? Similar to this one here

Nice shots ted! On my screen it looks kinda like vignetting around the rock haha

Teacake I also have a D3100. I have a 35mm f1.8 prime which lives on it, mainly due to a lack of long lens, takes a great pic. Will post some here soon, on hols at moment..

Fantasic weiry! Is the 35mm the AF-S version that sells for around 300 on ebay?

As for Ted nailing it, although Tassie is small, I haven't been to bridport. Been to all continents except antartica, but not bridport. That is where all the bogans come from and isn't exactly nice or any good surf so we generally stay on the East Coast! Haha

That photo of vic high country is absolutely amazing!

Makes me want to take my dslr while bush walking more often!
