Hi all,

Last Thursday was a sad day out here at Scarbs. The waves were fantastic, conditions supreme. Was having a great session when a larger than average set came through while I happened to be paddling out the back. Went under a wave after ditching the board and when i came back up and the tug on my ankle was a little lighter than usual...
Came up to two boards! Shattered...

Geez mate that one clean snap,how big wave the wave you reckon did the damage.

Epoxy board?

Sorry mate hope it don't keep ya out of the water too long.

only just replaced my longboard, snapped the last one at trigg on a day that wasnt even good :( still havent thrown it out even tho i prob wont get it repaired!

hey browneye, i'd say fix him, iv'e had boards snap and go better after repair, sometimes the weight is a good thing and it always sucks to put a good one in the bin & always a good option as a backup board.

I snapped one, paid $250 to get her put back together again, and I sold it to a happy "OceanBlue62" here on Seabreeze. Sale price was $250 !!

True that Mac... I recall commenting on that thread recommending he buy it... wonder how he's going...

Just for you WA guys Mike the guy who has looked after me from Dukes Longboards is heading back home to WA,lookout for his shortboarding,kitesurfing and longboarding he loves the ocean,oh his tinted redline 9.4 is one of the nicest boards I've seen.

It would have been head high, it looked great! Too bad it was probably the hollowest wave of the day!

No - there's no stringer. It's decorative... It's an epoxy construction that use wood veneers bonded with an epoxy coating... (or something like that).

Polyester fibreglass boards need a stringer for strength.

No stringer, its just paint.

Probably both Mac. I'll put it to the side until later in the year and use it for the summer waves over here. Looking to get a midrange board between 6'6 and 7'. Thanks why I was asking about the Katana in another post, have my eye on one.

nah not Mctav
yeah i was thinking of maybe fixing it and keeping it as a bash board hey gotta love having boards that you can smash up!

Yeah - I have an old mal that I snapped a foot off the nose - that has had all three fins refixed that is full of dings and looks worse for wear. Good for those days where it's only breaking 1ft at Trigg Point and it's off the reef and shallow with 30-40 sitting for the reform on the inside... I just don't care if I ding it or rip a fin out...

yes use it on days when the crowds are out and who cares about the drop ins etc

Here is the replacement. 7'0 hybrid! Went really well this morning. Took a little bit of getting used to, but really happy with it.
