my first new 70's board was a beautiful 6'6" red underside and white deck swallow tail single fin from Klemm Bell, at the old shop in Torquay for $96, my old man bought it for me, thanks Dad.... if only he knew it was a slippery slope of following the surf for decades to come....

I was riding one of these around the farm in the 70's - my first bike. Ripper. Sounded just like this one as well. I did not start surfing until 1986 and my first board was a Mt Wooddggee Thruster aka Jason Buttonshaw style. A mate had a Hannah Surfboards 6'7" single fin that his old man had found at the dump and fixed up for him. It was a ripper. Classic shape with the wide point forward of the mid point and a narrow rounded tail. Loved it.

+1, & one of those 4' styrofoam surfboards with blue poly canvas type cover over it, I think Clark Rubber sold them, used to give a belly & nipple rash from hell!!!!

Loved my red & blue blow up surf mat too.

In the 70's I was mostly riding a surf-mat, with those glue on Skegs.
Or a foam belly board, with that moulded skeg out the back... All foam, and foam skeg...
1980's - my brother & I both had 70's single fins.
Took me a while to progress... Still rode foam belly boards all through the 90's!

Started on a rubber mat then a coolite before an uncle gave me a Peter Ryan single fin with a big delam on the deck but that didn't matter. Got a 7 foot Jackson later on and had a Sam Egan and a Hot Stuff single fin for a while before getting into twinnies. Funny thing is that after all those boards I've still got a mat.
