I've just come back from a four day trip to PP. I've seen and followed the PP stories and the PP referencing as if to keep the locale a big secret... let me tell you the real secret...its no secret and from what I see hasn't been for a long time.
My wife and I have been camping at PP since 1987 when we would go there at this time of year, IE: mid week and outside of school hols, we would be the only ones in the camping ground. We were fortunate that we had family friends that lived there year round in one of the cabins, maybe you met and knew old Norm and Mavis Eacott, sadly now deceased.
Arriving Thursday arvo we found the place about 60% full which increased to about 80% occupancy by Friday arvo, a sad difference from 25 years ago. Having said all that its still a place where you pay your money, select your spot and light your fire after set up and there is a lot of places more regulated than that.
Got some two footers Friday and Saturday out the front with a half dozen crowd, but the fun was still to come. After getting the word from my new neighbours, a couple of really nice respectful 20 something young blokes, I headed to QH

Sunday morn .............................. sorry my eyes just glazed over again... six foot no wind A frames throwing left down the beach and right into the corner where you could just plug into the rip and sail out with the rip into the line up. Three hours later my shoulders gave up and I headed back for breaky. I cracked it again after lunch for another two hours when it had reduced to around the 3 -4 ft mark and the tide had dropped making it a little faster. All in all one of the best surf days I've ever had. About the only downer was I had dinged my 9' Egan the day before the trip surfing Salty Pt and only had my 9'6"McT which was too much board given the size and that it was a beach break not a point like salty.
Too many waves to count, to many beers to mention ( I know how many but I'm not telling you blokes)

Its still a great spot I'd hate to go there during school hols but like many of you I'm able to find a quite time when it generally turns it on. We took our own water, firewood and refrigeration so it came out $27 per night. We also became the topic of conversation a little bit. We have horses and the wife and daughters ride dressage so while the show season is in a lull at the moment we took all the dividers out and used the horse float as our camper, we certainly got into a few conversations as a result.
