Hey guys,
Am looking to get my first longboard, I have been using a 7ft minimal and have a 6'3 aloha bean but dont use it much bc im not fast enough to my feet. Arm strength for pop up and paddle power need improvement.

I do want to do some short board stuff later as well but think it would be fun to learn to noseride and carve a wave with a longboard. I wana do both short and long.

Atm Im intermediate. I am learning to read where spot x is to get onto the green waves out the back. Sonetimes get it right and sometimes cant paddle to where I wana be quick enuf. I can turn a little in tge wave face but still working on it. I tend to trim more the do proper turns.
I found a 9ft mcTav razor girls model in qld I was thinking of finding a courier to get it to melbourne.
What size is the smallest I could noseride? I saw some scaled down proper longboards (not minimals) on classic malibus webiste, made for groms. And HIC had similiar but ate very pricey.
Im 51kg and 168cm tall. Just getting on intermediate skill, would surf more if I lived closer to the beach. Im in melbs.

Cheers.

Pop down the coast here to Torquay, and I will paddle out with you and give you some tips...

You need to get a Longboard first though!

Size, yeah the girls boards would actually suit your weight.
This could be a well priced board... The 9'0 version.

SurfAnimal / SupAnimal on here speaks highly of them. Good value for money. Fast delivery too... Professionally Bubble Wrapped, and Boxed, and Professionally Delivered to your door, express freight.

McTavish also professionally build, and deliver boards to your door! But cost more!

I like Blue!

Both of the above boards have small-ish dimensions.
roughly 9'1 x 22"1/4 x 2"3/4
My custom would be 9'1 x 23 x 3, to carry 90kg of me, plus 4kg of wet wettie.

I found the Razor a good board..but an Original or Fireball might suit better...Fireball is a great allrounder IMO.

I wouldn't be looking at a QLD board if your in Vic, freight would be over the top and damage is always on the cards.

My advice is go to a local shop and see what's on offer in the 9' X 22" x 2 7/8" from a quality shaper.

i would agree with mac, something around that size would be good for your weight and super cruzy and would paddle onto waves easy, if your not getting up quick enough on the shorty you need to hit up the burpies, not that fun but if you do them so that you pop up in a surf stance it will help, my pop ups where terrible after a long time on the 666, but are getting a lot better and quicker, being 50 odd kg's you could pretty much nose ride what ever you want, if you are on a budget i would look on the buy and sell section, ebay, gumtree, try and find something local as you can pick up some great bargains, i probably wouldn't ship from Qld to Melb as that starts getting a little pricey, hope this helps

Okies so no roof racks and looking for some reasonably priced permanent ones, and storage at home is a problem (I live with non outdoors or activity ppl, so my boards dont get treated nicely by them).

But atm I was thinking of getting tgis board by classic malibu which they quoted 850 with spray. Although I secretly dig the sea blue green aqua tints!!! And I saw one with a mexican blanket pattern inlay which was the bees knees.

Other then that I Rousa has a board called the beaver and I realy like donald takayamas NR-3

Start of year, got some dental, nephews and nieces bdays car bills etc, I want to get the 9ft but without racks and proper storage im thinking a midlength scaled down in a 7'6 and then later in the year a proper log. Im still digging takayamas in the pink model but also like mcTs fireball.

Does anyone know how much a tinted board by Note, Rousa or Oke would cost down here??

I luv it all, the nose riding longboard style, the barrels, floaters and carves of a shorty. Eveventualy I will learn to do all these. And play the guitar I just bought. I just wish there was more surfing culture in melbs.. get looked at like a bum ftom some.
