Due to a resent thread posted by Vanders the 10 foot board got me thinking.

Yes I've owned a few the mct Cruiser as its named is not a cruiser its big HP
board they go like a bat out of hell such a great board,I sold mine due to the fact
that they are HP and why would you need or want a 10 foot HP board when there
are so many better boards and lengths that will do the job better.
I believe a 10 foot board should be that, a cruiser or log,not a HP.

So I pass this over to the SB brains trust for discussion.

Macaha I have a McT Cruiser and agree they are a hp board, and love it for the surf I usually get on the sth central coast of SA- Middleton, Goolwa, Chiton Rocks, the dump etc. Waves very full, crumbly. Can get some size, when it does you get some lovely big open faces. These are where the cruiser shines. Great paddle speed means early wave entry, then the relative narrowness (23 1/4" on a 10' board) and the full pintail means it can be thrown around ridiculously easily- like a (very) big shortboard. So trustworthy I have't found an upper wave limit yet, but being a single stringer I'm a bit worried about snappage...... The semi pointed nose being not as broad as other longboards also allows you to take it out in strong offshores and still catch waves, unlike a lot of boards (especially epoxys like Surftechs which are useless around here in these conditions due to the corkiness combined with fat sloping wave faces.) It does prefer shoulder high and above waves. Under that and I use different boards depending on conditions. Ankle to waist, usually my 9'6" Tyler Hatzikian stepdeck log. Difficult to master but satisfying. Most beautifully built board I've ever come across. Hankering for a McT Involvement though as the wider tail would suit our conditions, as noseriding not often an option around here. Anyone have one for sale?

My only move on a 10+ is paddle turn...shuffle to the nose...fall off....not always in that order

Thats gold Tux. My log is 9'6", but I have a similar problem, I can walk to the nose (Happy Days), but a lot of the time I'm stuck there. Can't get back.....fall off.
