Anyway, this one may or may not have followed me home today.
I probably need to change my name to "Surftech Guy" or something, given my collection of Surftechs. I do have customs, I promise!
Anyway, seller advertised this as a 10' DT-1 with odd dimensions (like 2 1/2" thick and 69L).

I'm mostly confident that it's a 10' DT-2. Definitely not a DT-1
Digging on the wayback machine (which is currently struggling), Surftech of this era had both a DT-2 and a "Noserider" listed as separate models. The description of the "Noserider" claimed it similar to the Model T, with the narrow tail.
I can't pick the difference in the pics between a DT-2 and a "Noserider" or even if there was a difference- but the "Noseriders" were listed as 10'2" not 10' (that I could find). But, the old Surftech site wasn't showing size options for the DT-2.
So who knows?
Anyway, after a solid clean, then board is in great condition and looks super fun. Can't wait to give it a spin.

I'm still confused as to what this board is.
What I've been able to determine, is that the 'noserider' logo does not designate the specific 'Noserider' model - It seems to be on the DT-2, In The Pink and the 'Noserider' models.

Here's some images pulled from the old Oz Suftech site (2012), thanks to the Wayback Machine.






I've included the ITP to show how they nominate other sizes.
While the Wayback Machine certainly has limitations, I've spent literal hours on there, on both the US and Oz Surftech sites, across different years, and can't find any reference to anything other than a 9'2" DT-2. Until much more recently, ie the 'new' construction, which this one is not.
It's also NOT 10'2". I even used an old imperial tape measure, so as not to mess up conversions between metric and imperial.
It's pretty much bang on 10'. I may have mis-measured it, but not by 2". And I'm all up for ways to gain 2"!
To add to the confusion, I found a few old ebay/facebook ads for used DT-2s, listing at both 10' and 10'2". Again, can't find any reference on any 'old' Surftech site for any DT-2 that's not 9'2". And there's nothing on the board re: dimensions or model designation to give any indication.

So, more questions than answers.
Are these ebay/facebook ads just wrong, and they're not DT-2s, but "Noseriders"?
Is the "Noserider" model just a longer DT-2? and if so, why does the description not say anything about DT-2, where it refers to the Model T instead? Maybe, just maybe, the Surftech website was wrong? or less informative than it should be? Could then also explain a 10' board being advertised as 10'2" (but now I need to remeasure mine, it's clearly doing my head in).

What says the Seabreeze Brains-trust? Anyone got any insight or experience with these?

Either way, it looks like a great board that cleaned up amazingly well, and that I paid what I consider to be a fair price for.
Whether it's a DT-2 or a 'Noserider', or if they're essentially the same thing, it should be a fun board to ride.... once there's some decent winds, or lack thereof! It's waxed up an ready to go!

Mac if that was the case,I would have grounds to return all my noseriders ??

Damned,I to loved the early surftechs ,and was lucky enough to ride most of them.IMO,Tak only made a few legit noseriders,Model T, Double Ender,Nuuhiwa,specifically no edge!.they had hybrids for the day,because of the rebirth of cool era,ITP,Steven ,slater the Dt 2 and others ,and the nose rider you are talking about,just included 2+1 fins and some edge in the tail,and as I recall the noserider was a 10.2,same board as the DT2 just 2" longer.I rode it for a while but like all Donald's boards they were to narrow and thin for me at that time,plus the old story eventually turned up surftechs are to light and buoyant,.blah blah,I personally settled on the 11.2 prince Kuhio,and rode it for years,and like the board hoare that I was sold it,and have bee trying to find it ever since !

I just took a more careful measurement of the board length.

So that doesn't help.
So I guess it's a 10'ish DT-2ish Takayama.

No question that it is narrower and thinner than any other 10' board I own.
That said, I put it in the water this morning. Put a 8" 4A fin in, alongside 4" FCS GX sides. Both crowd and swell was bigger than anticipated, and outside of my comfort zone for a new board that I was worried may have been a little undersized for my fat azz. So I played on the inside with some of the reforms. I was very pleasantly surprised with how well it paddled and how easily it caught the similarly fat reforms. It surfed beautifully on the mushy 'waves'. Can't wait to get it in some more suitable waves.
I should add, I've barely surfed in the last 6 months, and lost about 15kg in the last 4 months - so how much of the ease of paddle/wave catching was due to the board vs me losing 15kg, is anyone's guess. I don't think there's any question that if I was 15kg heavier, that narrow and thin board would not have been as easy to surf.
Either way, the board is a keeper.

Apparently the guy I bought the board from, got the board from his uncle, who bought it new, and was a tool maker.
This was in the fin box, ahead of the fin, as a security device. He could/would lock the board up with this.
(apparently my hands need a scrub)

I was told I could leave it in, with this fin, as it 'doesn't affect the surfing of the board'.

Thanks, but if I want to lock the board up when camping etc, I'll stick with the Lockjaw fin lock.

Damned,first of all congratulations on the weight loss.! Definitely going to help in all aspects of life ,particularly in the water.The fat boy fins work well as a single fin at that size,especially if it is an original fluid foils,as the neck of the fin was foiled so it created a bulb at the top of the fin,the the theory was the water flow over the bulb , helped hold the fin down when noseriding ,I never rode one but some crew swear by them .love the uncle Tony security system a bit of GG in that ,stoked you have found a keeper,as I have always struggled with that ,being a board hoare

Actually I enquired about that board a while ago but it didn't have the volume I was after. I am now looking at the 10' DT2 which I think is the board you bought but what would I know.??

Wouldn't surprise me, seller had this one listed at something like 69L (and 2 1/2" thick) - neither of which are correct.

Probably closer to 5 months than 4 months, but still.

Drugs, my dear friend. Drugs are the answer.

I'm on Wegovy - which is exactly the same as ozempic, even made and sold by the same company, just twice the price of ozempic. And available. It's been good. I lost 10kg in about the first 2 1/2 months, which was most likely simply me cutting back on the beers.

I will add, though, that I'm losing weight in different places to when I've lost weight before. Example is that my waist has dropped a size already (yeah, I get it, I lost 15 kg) - but last time I was a 34" waist, I was 10kg lighter than I currently am.

I'm trying to approach it from the perspective of it not only facilitating some weight loss now, but more importantly, changing habits - ie getting away from the too many beers and gorging on sweet food (or any food) all evening. And more of a drive to exercise, if I'm seeing more of an effect.
That's the theory, anyway.

Makaha will be onto it. Interesting to hear his results.

While this is off topic for the forum, I do think the govt should look at subsidising the wegovy and similar products.
I get that ozempic, despite being different only in name, is for those with type 2 diabetes - but why do 'most' people with type 2 diabetes have type 2 diabetes? Our old friend Obesity.
Given the endless (and known) list of the detrimental effects of obesity, those of us with an excess BMI would save the health care system a tonne of money by losing a bit of heft. Sometimes, based on personal experience, we just need that little assistance to go with diet and exercise.
That's my rant for the day. Probably.

And none of this is it imply that Makaha needs to lose weight - and I'm sure he gets plenty of exercise ordering up boards and selling them.
