Roy has sold one...

www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11295826

You only ever get 1 Alan bond in your life and Roy just found his. .

Well done Roy. Good reward for doing your own thing.

Maybe GSI might get on board now ?

Hats off to him. Bit of a double edged sword though - you need to tell everyone that you sold it so it can help stimulate more discussion and demand but the downside is that the taxman now knows about your thriving business

Great work Roy. I wish you all the success - can not wait to see how the Realsurf community takes this news. Should make for some riveting reading

what do you think will happen to the value of this board - will it depreciate 30% as soon as it leaves the showroom floor (workshop) and is ridden or will it appreciate nicely like a poorly made MP single fin? I wonder how much his home n contents policy will go up by So many questions. Where are you Roy????

Imagine how bad you'd feel putting the first dent it scratch in it.
Surely you couldn't ride it? Not for that price

Hope it doesn't come with a swallow tail

I'd love to know if the guy who bought the anti "flapping" guys board plans to surf or display the board as art. I'm thinking the later or maybe use it as a canoe lolz ...but congratz to the guy, sometimes persistence pays off

Great quote...

Stuart said he was not surprised by the reaction to Rampant. "It's a crazy world with crazy-rich people. They all want something the other guy can't have. Look at it like a wealth-redistribution programme, all that money would just be sitting in a bank account otherwise."

www.stuff.co.nz/waikato-times/news/10285815/Surfboard-ride-worth-a-million

Theres actually a bit about the board in this one.

The board Stuart is customising has some special features. "We're using laser-cut titanium in the design and adjusting the thickness of the board for their bodyweight."

Not that a board that is that huge really needs adjustment for body weight unless the bloke is 50kg dripping wet or 200kg plus I reckon

what about this one

"In Hawaii, surfing was the sport of kings. If designer handbags and iPads can sell for millions of dollars, how is an expensive surfboard unreasonable?"

We have 3 iPads at home. Does this mean I could sell them and retire? Anyone got any idea where I could find a buyer? I would be willing to cut you a decent percentage One is there original 64GB Cellular version - brought in their first week of release - surely that is a collectable in waiting I still have the original box in mint condition

What about that smoker on "what really happens in Bali". Treats women like ****, has no idea what he is doing and can barely string a sentence together, yet still manages to pull of buying a charter boat and renting it to Jim banks for 100k a year!

I liked this oxymoron statement
"His boards and designs are often copied by the worlds largest board shapers"
Then literally the next sentance;
"International board makers have been handicapped for the last century, because the continue to stick with inefficient designs"
WTF?

Great find Tux - had never seen that vid. I loved the 'just turn it and hope for the best' comment - yes that rocker kills the board speed as you could see in the footage. The thing that really surprised me was how many waves RR dropped in on someone else. Nice to see what being a legend allows you to do
