yep.... this happened yesterday
and I have the video

In 57 years of surfing, I have never seen this...... but apparently it is possible

The full impact didn't hit home, till last night when my body seized up
no standing, sitting or laying down... there was no place to hide.

luckily
I can actually walk and sit down again this morning, and it's feeling less dire.
Seems like I was spared any lasting damage.

Wait for it....

Wow, that's......different!!!

Sincerely hope you're ok and that you continue to heal properly.

I think you've probably got enough for 'Creek's Greatest Hits Vol.2' by now so you can stop with the silly dismounts and get back to shredding!!

Ouch! Lucky you're still ok.
Yeah the dreaded nose dives. I've had my board bounce back whilst underwater & gave me a good undercut. Haa!
And the most recent snapped a side fin from being too hesitant from taking the drop due to still recovering from ankle injury. The tail of the board & the fin hit my backside.

Something close happened to my brother surfing prone. The tip of his swallow tail quad entered deep into his butt cheek...

Damn Rick, I've done some nasty things to myself out there, but as a tall bloke with a dodgy back that made me cringe.
Take care mate.

Ouch! The silly little falls on the small days can serve up surprisingly nasty hits. Hope nothing more then soreness. The dims son that board are something else.

Take care Creek. Surfing really is a dangerous sport. Speed, inconsistent waves , timing issues , crowding , big boards , sharp fins , hard objects etc . So much can go wrong

J, did you notice how snappy the turns were on the first wave? This board is stunning!!! Yewwwwwww!
I haven't surfed it all winter because I needed time on the new Flow V2, so I could understand where it fits in the scheme of things.
The Flow V2 is a really nice board, but I was super stoked to get back on the SP25

Surfing is the safest thing I do all day.
Walking too close to people is the real hazard in this strange new world.

Creek just checked dims on SP25 for first time .....sales pitch says it's good for performance on small to medium surf . Is this your take on it or is it best suited to larger waves ? Also with this board is it wiser to opt for more volume given the outline shape , dims and rail shape ?

Hey boots,
The SP25 is a small to medium wave groveler, designed to maximize performance in average waves.
This is the same board that Sean Pointer won the Barbados APP Pro on.
I feel that I surf this board best of all my boards.

The very pointy nose creates a need to mind the nose on steep drops and control the board from the tail, more than say, the Placid or Flow V2.
Other than that it is a very snappy board that is a pleasure to surf.
Go back and watch the video above.... watch my first wave.... it shows just how snappy this board is with a big, 72 year old on it.
Very fast, vertical and easy float, all in a sweet little board.

I could easily surf the 8'8 at 235 lbs... but the 8'11 is comfortable for me and surfs better than I do.
Just for the info: I have paddled the 8'5 at 126 L on flatwater without great effort.

The SP25 is designed to put a lot of volume under your back foot for maximum float per size and the shape of the board makes it super easy to turn up the face

Just because I like to give max info:
my friends have both the 8'5 SP25 and 8'6 Kanga.... they both seem to prefer the Kanga for ease of use.
My Kanga is so much bigger than my Sp25 that I can't compare them, although I feel the SP25 will be faster and outperform the Kanga at equal size.
The Placid is the all around easiest of the boards below, but not as fast as the SP25

Board to board comps:
8'7 Placid - 8'5 SP25 - 8'6 Kanga

8'6 Kanga - 8'5 SP25 - 8'7 Placid

8'5 SP25 --- a thing of beauty!!!!

Thanks Creek. Appreciate the details . I have an oversized Acid (9'1) which has always felt smaller than it's dims. At 63-65kg it is too big for me - theoretically - but in 3 foot or less which I pretty much only surf the board is excellent so long as it is not crowded . I like the fact that it has a pointy and rounded deck , yet at 30 1/8 wide it is plenty even when i move up and paddle hard for a fat high tide wave . But the Acid doesn't have the tapered rail shape of the SP25 that's for sure

Thanks Mark, I greatly appreciate that!
I am making slow but steady improvements...
Probably be sidelined for a while longer, but I am starting to become semi functional again.

Yeehaaaa.... I am back on board again!!!
After 2 weeks sleeping in a chair, my back greatly appreciated doing some work again.
Super tight when I started, but after an hour I was all loosened up and a few hours later, I feel quite back to normal
