Nice shooting Phil. Christ they've put a few high rises on Namotu since I was last there, almost looks like Coolie.

Hey mate, nice work,
I wont be able to join you for a paddle Wednesday as my brand new board became two smaller boards this morning and now I have nothing to ride, again!
Talk soon.

Yep, same when I started going there. But back then we didn't surf Namotu lefts much, as in the '80s and early '90s you could surf Cloudbreak without having to stay on Tavarua. Cloudbreak won hands down most days.

On that subject: an unreliable source told me over the weekend that the Fijian Government under its new crackdown has withdrawn the exclusive surf rights for Namotu resort and made it open slather. Anyone know if that's correct? And if so, if same thing has happened to Tavvie?

You got that right L4L. Scott O'Connor must be spewing.

Just googled out of curiosity. It's all here:

http://www.surfinglife.com.au/news/asl-news/4662-fiji-surf-spot-rights-busting-open

Open slather at Restaurants and Cloudbreak. Some will say good, and maybe it is. But I fear it could get very ugly in the water. It got pretty heavy out at CB back when the Malolo and Momi people were at each other's throats for control of that wave.
