Hi, I am trying to design a single fin SUP to discuss with the local board shaper - something that will carve a nice longish turn to drift me up the face of the wave and allow a high line speed run - for a barrel or out onto the shoulder for a huge cutty and back off the foam for another go - sort of Trry Fitzgerald type stuff -(if you are old enough)

Been looking at soft(boxy) rails almost all the way with a wing keel fin?

4" rocker at front , fairly flat thru back ,

and bottom shape being flat at nose , turning into a slight rounded thru most of the board and transitioning into a "V" TAIL where the fin is

- any ideas -- 9'4"? width 32" hybrid nose shape - square tail?

Sounds like an interesting project. In fact if you look at many Sup outlines they have a lot in common already with single fin design. Wide point forward, wider nose etc.

I have a pretty good idea what kind of single fin you are describing below almost like a McCoy or early Wayne lynch style, is that correct? Or kind of like MP morning of the earth type.

You mention TF his boards were quite different to these, pointy nosed speed needles.

If you want to go to 9'4 x 32 you'll need more than 4" of nose rocker as that would be very very flat. If you want the TF style you need a pointier nose and more rocker, if you want he other style these boards were quite short also and like a disc type design.

Easier way would be to speak to a shaper already working in Sup with a good boards building background. They can scale up the design of something you like.

theres a DC 9.4 for sale in the buy sell section
it might be what your looking for 30 wide but you would have no problems with that
or call Dale he would be able to make what you want
